Has anybody had a cat infected with Spirometra? I am terribly discouraged because my cat has had 3 Droncit injections however he still has diarrhea every day for the past 6 weeks. HeI am hundreds of dollars in debt already and the Vet can not guarantee my cat will ever be healthy again, I've been told my cat could die. Please give me feedback on your cats or dogs that had or has Spirometra. Thank you very much.

I saw this online, and I'm
Wondering if Droncit and the treatment here are different. According to this article, a drug by another name is the treatment of choice.

I don't have any experience with this kind of tapeworm so hopefully an advisor will be along soon to point you in the right direction.

Is your cat indoor or outdoors? Did the vet tell you how to disinfect the litterbox etc?

misterwhiskers praziquantel  is the drug in Droncit. My cat is an inddoor cat that was infected by another rescued cat I took into my house. The other cat was fully Vetted and healthy I thought however I later found out the other cat was not fully healthy...he had Spirometra. His previous owner took him back and I have kept my sick cat away from my other rescued cats. I empty each of the litter boxes immediately after my sick cat has a BM and I properly bleach each litter box I empty. I also bleach his water and food bowls daily. Thank you for your comment misterwhiskers.

Thank you jcat for your reply and the links! I really appreciate your comment. My cat has already been given a 2 consecutive day treatment of Droncit tablets and 3 injections over a 6-7 week period. I forgot to mention the 2 tablets that were given to my cat previously. My cat has had a total of 5 Droncit treatments this is why I am feeling so discouraged and worried. :(
