We are one week closer to spring here in the northern hemisphere!  Who is ready!?

Do you order Chinese takeout?  What do you get?

DH and I celebrated Valentine's day last Thursday when my mother took our kids overnight.  It was nice; but not practical for going out to eat (which is fine). So instead we ordered Chinese food and DH picked it up on his way home from work.  Sometimes it's REALLY nice just to sit back on the couch together.  Plus; it was tasty!  This was our first time ordering from this place.  I've had trouble with some other Chinese food places so I was leery of trying a new one.  My favorite is way out of the way since we moved here almost 7 years ago; so getting some Chinese takeout is a treat!!  This new place was good; but not quite as good as the other place.

I ordered Sesame Chicken.  I usually get General Tso Chicken with pork fried rice or occasionally shrimp fried rice.  My favorite place you can request "mild" spiciness; but since we were ordering from a new one I just got Sesame Chicken.  I also got an order of Beef Lo Mein that I had for lunch for several days afterward.
That was good too!  DH usually gets some kind of Sweet and Sour Chicken but he went for the Sesame chicken too this time.  I used to get beef and broccoli every time; but I've been making my own version at home so I don't really order that anymore.  There is a place by my mother's house that is pretty good and they offer brown rice if you request it.  My Mom loves their steamed vegetables over brown rice with some kind of sauce.  My kids enjoyed that at her house before too.

One of our standards is PF Changs.  We can only get it when Jonathan is eating elsewhere or for lunch.  He doesn't like chinese food.

We love the shrimp dumplings, and depending on who is eating we get some kind of spicy chicken, Crispy Chicken, Mongolian beef, shrimp fried rice or Cashew Chicken.

Of course we have different favorites at different places.  Was just thinking it might be fun to have lunch across the bay at Hunan Homes.  They have a really good Chicken with Cashews.

We get Panda Express sometimes. I like their orange chicken and their honey sesame chicken.

There's an Asian fusion restaurant in the town my parents live in. Pretty much everything they make is great, they have the usual American Chinese food along with more authentic Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Thai dishes. My absolute favorite from them is Sesame Mandu. And Princess Chicken. And they have a stir fry that comes out on a sizzling pan like fajitas. . .so good! I also like anything with kimchi in it, and they make excellent kimchi.

At regular Chinese restaurants and buffets I like General Tso's chicken, beef with broccoli, and garlic chicken with broccoli.

My dad ONLY eats beef fried rice from a Chinese restaurant, no matter what. So when my mom calls in an order, if it includes beef fried rice and kimchi, they know who she is before she gives her phone number. . .:D

Love Chinese!  I order i whenever the budget allows, at least every other month.  My typical order is General Tso's  Chicken, Hot &  Sour Soup, Crab Rangoon, Egg Rolls and a pint of Pork Lo Mein.  Keep in mind that this feeds me for 3 full meals, so it isn't as bad as it sounds.  Sometimes I get Pepper Steak instead of the General, but by and large, I'm a fan of spicy.  I could eat Chinese at least 3 days a week if it fit the budget.

I love Chinese, too. My top favorites are Hot and Sour Soup and Szechuan Chicken, but I like to try others, too. Shrimp or chicken with peapods is great and so is chicken lo mein.

I very occasionally get Chinese take out, I really don''t get take out very often anymore.  I always get the Hunan Chicken extra spicy.  It really isn't that spicy but if I order it without specifying extra spicy it's really bland.

I love Chinese takeout. I've been craving it for weeks now. We're still pretty low on money (though not as bad as a few weeks ago), so it'll be a while yet before I can satisfy that craving.
I always get fried rice (chicken or veggie), sweet and sour chicken or pork, egg rolls, and cream cheese wontons.
I recently found a place in my area that actually delivers, I'll definitely be trying that when we have enough money! They've got Chinese, Japanese, and maybe Korean?
I pull up their menu online sometimes and just drool over it. Everything there looks soo good, I'll definitely have to try some new things!

Never. When we want Chinese for dinner, we'll go to the restaurant. I don't think we've ever done take-out for Chinese.

Chinese food has been a staple in my life since childhood. Growing up my family frequently would go into Chinatown in NYC for meals.  Way more authentic food than your local take out.  Whole bass was always a treat, something that only got ordered when my dad's sister and husband came with us.

We don't order out much Chinese at all anymore. All of the take out places nearby are too generic/Americanized for our tastes. Only one or two are adequate.  We're inevitably disappointed so unless we get a craving we don't bother.  There is used to be one take out near my old home that did this dish called "Black Pepper Shrimp".  I was addicted to it.  Big shrimp fried in the wok with charred red peppers, scallions and a ton of garlic.  I've never seen it on any other menus. The owners retired recently and the new owner's are running into the ground - the food is awful.

There's also a sit down Chinese place in the same town which is fantastic.  Very high quality and nice atmosphere. Darn now I want to go there. Maybe we will this weekend.  They even make their crispy noodles from scratch and have really good almond cookies.  Yea, I think a trip is in order!

I order Chinese from the place down the street (just a local place, not a national brand). I always get chicken fried rice, no onions and no vegetables. I have to say no vegetables because for some reason, if I don't, they still add onions. I also get egg rolls and crab rangoon on occasion.

Funny story - years ago, back when Bally's still existed, my sister-in-law and I had a personal training session every Tuesday and Thursdays. Well, on Tuesdays, we would do the personal training session, then stop at the aforementioned Chinese place and pick up crab rangoon, and then I'd go home and eat it while watching "The Biggest Loser".

I love Chinese food. We usually get wontons, chicken balls, general tao chicken, lo mein, chicken fried rice and egg rolls or spring rolls.

When I was younger, I loved, loved Chinese food. I always went to a restaurant for it..pan fried pot stickers, pork fried rice, boneless spareribs, yum....

Then, I started working in Chinatown...Yes, you guessed it...saw the good and bad....had the good and bad...

Had both much too often...

My tastes changed.

I did fall in love with Pad Thai...

Started with the chicken pad thai; then the shrimp; now it is just vegetarian pad thai.

There is a wonderful dumpling place near work..nice and clean.. unfortunately I really feel out of place in that restaurant. One of the doctors I worked with, lived in Taiwan for a while and learned Cantonese. One time she orchestrated an entire meal for a group.---wonderful, but scary at the same time...all different kinds of soups, fish, fish parts, spicy, non-spicy, tons of dumplings...etc...

Currently, I think I have had my fill of Chinese food. I have not had any for maybe 4 years. It has too much sodium for my taste.

The only takeout we get is Turkish. When we want Chinese food, which I love, we go to a restaurant with a buffet and pig out.
