Hello,

This little Stray kitten was left at a ladys house by his mother (She took the other kittens with her). The lady then started to look for a home for him as she had 10 other cats who were strays inside...   She didn't say that he was sick. We shortly found out he was sneezy, Runny nose (Snot colored) and his eyes run clear. We just paid $800 for an Absest surgery on our dog and still have a outstanding balance so we wanted to try and treat it at home. (This week we will be taking him into a different vet)

I gave Benny 500MG of L-Lysine a day. I seen some improvement. His nose runs was getting less and his sneezing has almost stopped. I recently switched from the L-Lysine cat treats as he wouldn't eat them unless we dissolved and syringed them to him to a L-Lysine tablet that has the powder inside... I upped the dose from 500mg to 1000mg to try and kick this things butt but its seemed to have done an opposite job. Two days I have woke up and his little nose has been plugged... Its only clogging while we are sleeping. He gets his tablets twice a day about 12hrs apart.

Is there anything else I can do at least untill we can get into the vets (We wont get in untill Saturday as we work until the place closes and we need to work to afford this new vet bill)

I am no expert here but I just want to thank you for taking the kitten in.. perhaps a trip to the vets is what's needed

What a cute little fellow!
He really should go to the vet sooner than Saturday, although I completely understand the financial/work constraints.  It should help to have him spend some time in a bathroom steamed up by a hot shower.  Also, if he could sleep in a room with a humidifier, that would probably benefit him tremendously.

There are some low/no cost options for vet care out there that might help you get him to a vet sooner.   He will eventually need to go to be checked for the usual cat diseases, to be dewormed, treated for fleas (probably) and to be vaccinated but since he is sick, you should be able to just get treatment for the URI to start.

You can roast an unseasoned chicken breast with the skin on it in a pan of water to create a broth. Give some heated up to him every day. Most cats will drink chicken broth, and the warm fluids are very helpful. Make sure he is eating and drinking fluids- it's very easy for kittens to become dehydrated when they're ill. Mixing a little tuna fish in with wet food and water added will make food more palatable for him since his sense of smell isn't very good now. The vet will likely prescribe antibiotics.
