So my morning was eventful.

I woke up with Tybalt on my face trying to get me out of bed like he does when someone was at the door. As I was pulling myself awake, I heard a noise at the front door, but it was not a normal knocking sound. I looked out the peep hole and saw no one there, but the sound persisted. When I slowly cracked it, a huge black head was trying to wiggle in. A dog was curled up scratching my door to smithereens trying to get in, half limp and shivering violently. I told him to get back and he listened right away, even a little scared, because he seemed to suddenly realized I was not his momma. I ran to grab a heavy towel and my phone and set rubbing him as I frantically tried calling everyone I knew for advice. His hind legs were bunged badly and he could barely stand with all the shivering. The dog was wearing a flea collar, a chain collar, and a blue, stripped sweater that said "A is for Awesome" so he was no stray. I assessed him from head to toe, and even though he didn't look like his legs were broken, they had to have been damaged. With some encouragement and big bowel of water, I got him in, swaddled him in the towel, and even found a pillow for him to lay on. Everywhere I could call was closed, and the only 24 emergency clinic I found wanted cash up front, so I regretfully did the only thing I could. I called the local police department, and they sent a very gentlemanly officer over to check it out. The sweet guy's knock was so humble I didn't even know he was an officer. He assured me they would do everything they could to make sure the dog was okay, and told me that they had a nice warm kennel for him with plenty of food. I had no food for him, much less food for such a big dog. He sucked down two huge mixing bowls full of water and still wanted more.

My job isn't done though. I have friends who, once they wake up, will be more than willing to post photos of him on the local Facebook community, and once my neighbors start waking up, I'm going to ask around. Please keep his dog in your hopes, prayers and thoughts. He needs all the help he can get to find his home. Surely someone is missing him!

I'll post pictures of him in the next post. My phone isn't cooperating with me right now.

Hmmm... My phone still isn't cooperating. I may have to tether it to my computer to upload the images.

Bless you for helping this poor dog out.  Your story made my day.  I look forward to seeing pictures.

I'm sorry no pictures made it to the thread. I've had internet and phone problems combined. It's been insane over here. As far as I know, the dog did find his home, but I was unable to get more information about him. I'm so glad regardless!
