Cat losing hair, has strange skin.

Hi everyone, I just noticed this on my cat. It wasn't there this morning so I think his hair just fell out.


The skin feels rough and he is much more violent then he usually is. He's about 2 and a half human years old, we adopted him from a family.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Was he outside? indoor outside cat?   

He is an indoor cat and always was an indoor cat. He likes to sit around on the balcony in the summer time, but it's the middle of winter and it's freezing outside.

So he's only been indoors what do you think this is? looks very short not saying that you are doing this but it looks like he's been shaved very close, is there something he could have gotten into a chemical perhaps  that maybe burned singed the hair off?

We never tried shaving him ourselves, we bring him to the vet in order to get his nails clipped and his hair cut. We don't leave chemicals laying around, but he does tend to climb to the top of the kitchen cupboards, so it leads me to believe that he cut himself somewhere when jumping down. I'll bring him to the vet in a couple of days and reply here after.

Little update, my cat went crazy and just full-on assaulted my arm, which he has never done. I locked him in the bathroom with a bowl of food and water for the night, and hopefully the vet can fix him right up.

Yikes.  I think this is becoming a more urgent vet trip.  Something is clearly bothering him a lot.  Please update when you know!
