FortiFlora causing acne?

Leroy's almost done with his 30 day treatment of FortiFlora (he had an upset tummy and mushy poop a few weeks ago). The vet prescribed Flagyl and FortiFlora. I've noticed that since being on FortiFlora, Leroy has developed acne. He has noticable black almost scab like crusties on one area of his chin. I wonder if he's having some reaction to the FortiFlora? Diet hasn't changed (NV raw) and neither has the bowl. I suppose I can just stop giving FortiFlora since Leroy's tummy is all better now and see if the acne goes away

I was curious to see if there FortaFlora had ever been associated with acne but didn't find any reports.  It will be very interesting to see if that's what caused Leroy's problem - please let us know if it goes away when you discontinue the FortaFlora!  

I emailed our regular vet late last night with pictures of Leroy's acne and got a response from him this morning. I wasn't expecting a response so quickly since he doen't work on Sundays. Love my vet He said it was unusual for FortiFlora to cause a reaction but maybe some FortiFlora got into direct contact with Leroy's chin. I don't think it does because I mix the FortiFlora into the smushed up NV medallion with a little water. The acne only started with the start of FortiFlora and nothing else has changed with Leroy or anything I do with him. Vet said to stop FortiFlora for a few days and keep cleaning the chin to see if it goes away. Then since I asked about starting Leroy on probiotics long term, I can restart the FortiFlora again or try a different probiotic. Vet recommends FortiFlora since that's what he uses all the time but isn't against me using something else.

I give my kitty Proviable DE. It's also a probiotic. I found it fairly cheaply at Chewy.com.

Update: It's been a little over a week since I stopped giving FortiFlora and the acne has nearly cleared up. There's still a little bit of tiny black specks but it's better than the crusty thing Leroy had. Other than stopping FortiFlora nothing has changed in Leroy's daily routine. Who knew FortiFlora could cause acne? Or rather, why is Leroy such a werid cat who develops stuff like bald spots and acne from random stuff that's supposed to be good for him?

My kitties get acne when they are stressed out.  I have one who is just a freak about everything so it seems like he always has it.  And my old girl Mary gets when she is having tummy troubles, from that stress.   I have given FortiFlora to most of my cats except the freaky one, he has never needed it..  and they never had any acne.  

I noticed that you use the Petsafe Autofeeder?  Are you using it on a daily basis by chance? The only time my Tiger got chin acne was from that autofeeder; I fixed the problem by findng a glass dish to put inside and I never had the problem again.

ETA: whatever the case, I'm glad his chin looks so much better.

No, I don't use the feeder for my current two cats. The feeder worked great for my previous cat who ate canned food which is why I often recommend it to others.

The acne showed up right after Leroy started FortiFlora and Flagyl for his upset tummy. Nothing else had changed and Leroy is definitely not stressed out. Since stopping FortiFlora the acne has cleared up so it had to be that. Kind of weird for FortiFlora to cause acne but maybe Leroy is sensitive to something in it.
