Right now it's 8 degrees out but feels like -12. It's expected to get colder tonight.
I pray from all the little furrys out there. I gave my squirrel extra nuts and am going refill the bird feeders in a minute.
I worry about all the feral cats and the cats and dogs people leave outside.

It's not quite that cold here; its in the upper teens.  The local news stations have been reminding people not to leave animals out.  About a month or so ago the town next to us was offering free bales of straw for outdoor animals.  It had been so mild before then; I hope people took advantage!

We have a arctic blast as well, frigid. I told my husband last night I feel for that stray cat and wonder if it can survive, especially if

it was ever accustomed to living in a house. Last weekend we made the double tote insulated with styrofoam  and plenty of straw, but

I see no tell tale sign that looks like it ever went in, however everyday the food is gone and I put water out and replace it when it

freezes.

I did the same, plenty of peanuts for the squirrels, filled up the bird feeders and put out more suet, and made sure

the bird bath was full (it has a heater) ....I too worry about all the animals trying to get by, at least feeding them

gives them the energy to expend trying to stay warm.

Same here! It is currently 18F - dropping down to 6F tonight (not counting the windchill!) and next Friday it is supposed to be 60F!!

The good thing is, I checked to upcoming weather and it looks like the weather will be holding in the upper 40's and 50's from next week into the early part of March! YAY! I am SO done with cold weather!

12 degrees here right now in the North Shore, supposed to get down to 6. Probably warmer further west of here by a bit (western and southwestern suburbs).

It is suppose to get down to -2 tonight. I'm sure glad I don't have a feral colony anymore to worry about. I just cuddle up with my two old ladies on these cold nights. I brought extra nuts to feed the squirrels and I've been giving them fresh water all day. I even put extra food out for the raccoons but they don't always come out on real cold nights.

Artic cold here
The cats got their microwavable heat pads this morning but they usually do anyways during the winter. I'm not sure if Leroy actually uses his but Emma promptly sits on hers. The mice even have a heating pad to keep warm. The heating pad sits partially under the box so there's a cool spot to go to if they get too warm.

I see people walking their dogs out in the cold. Sometimes the dogs wear a coat but never any shoes. Walking on freezing cold pavement must be pretty uncomfortable to a dog's paws, no to mention the burn from chemical road salt and sand. I wonder why dog owners forgoet about putting shoes on their dog's paws.

it was minus -10 F here and with the wind chill I think it was below -20F  but I am not going to complain it has been a very mild winter for the most part. I lived in Northern Ontario for a while and that was a cold place to be during winter, it was not unusual to see -40

I also worry about all the poor homeless animals a little more on days like this

It was 0 this morning when I got up and will be colder tomorrow. I haven't seen any animals out but squirrels and birds, which I feed. The raccoons can freeze in my book. I can hear some animal skriching in the attic, so it must be somewhat warm.

Wow, it's 19 here in NC!  Which is a heatwave compared to 0 and -10!

Tomorrow we have another winter storm watch coming :(  The high is expected to be 28.

Dear lord, our roads are horrible this morning. Even with PennDOT being out, it's freezing rain and they can't stay ahead of it. Rick brought me into work on his way into his work and he's driving Hannah. Thankfully this isn't supposed to last much longer as we are at 29 F now. Once we get above freezing, it should change over to all rain. But for now.....it's simply horrible.

We're hitting our "warm-up" period right now. Highs in the 50s expected this weekend! 25 degrees right now, which is absolutely warm compared to what it's been. I had my window open last night!
