Hi everyone. I foster cats through a rescue charity (I am actually the foster-carer coordinator for cats) and mostly we rescue them from the local pound. So when we take them we are often unsure of their background and breed. Most are "domestic shorthairs" but occasionally we get some that seem to have something else mixed in. My latest foster from the pound has gotten a bit fluffier while I've had her. We think she is 1+ years (she has had at least one litter we think). Her name is Topaz. Here is a pic I took recently. She has tortie in her but a bit fluffier than any other tortie I've fostered.

My other foster is one that was surrendered to us. The previous owners said she is a Ragdoll X but I had a ragdoll in the past and she is quite different. Plus from everything I have read (and my experience with my own ragdoll) ragdolls are mellow and laid back. This girl is NOT. She is just over 2 years old and quite grumpy. At first I put it down to being in a different environment but she isn't really too friendly. Hopefully that may change. Anyway here is a photo . To me she looks brown in the photo but she is grey. She's very soft and quite fluffy. Any help with what sort of breed she is would be good because I don't want to advertise her as something she is not when we are trying to find her a home - thanks!!

Thanks StefanZ - I will see what I can do regarding more photos. Topaz has gone to another carer for a few days while Snook settles in as she has been quite grumpy and doesn't seem to like other cats (she came from a one pet household). Snook was also quite aggressive towards me - biting, scratching and hissing so I needed to spend some one on one time with her to see how she settles before offering her to a potential adopter. All this behaviour plus her looks makes me more likely to believe she is not Ragdoll.

I'll get more photos and double check Snook's eyes - I'm sure they are a bright green. But I'll be back later with updates. Thanks again for your help.

Tortie is a pattern, not a breed. So its not THAT peculiar you see a mediumhaired tortie.  I can admit they arent the most regular, but not rare either.  she wasnt very longhaired as kitten, thought.  And she had greenish eyes too...

Anyway, Topaz is a great beautie in her way, diluted tortie, but yet, with a golden shine on the body.  The whitish marks on her body, I suspect she is really a classical tabby too, but that isnt easy visible because of her longish fur.  Neither I dont see that renown M on her forehead, but what to do with these whitish marks?  I still do think she is classical marbled tabby.

The other, Snookie.  Did the ex owner KNEW she is a ragdoll mix, or it was some wild guess because it was thursday?

A point mixed out will lose that point, so I suppose, she could have ragdoll ancestry.

As it its, the nearest look alike comparison will be with the Nebelung, ie a sort of longhaired russian blue. Especially having green eyes, and an acceptable profile of the nose.   Now, RB are renowned for being mild and gentle, even if some may look mean (esp the males of the Scandinavian type are renown for their mean looks),   so this wont help explaining her not so friendly behavior.

I think you do entirely right you are giving her more of your quality time, to foster her into a nice girl easy to adopt out.

If she doenst like cat company, its sometimes easier with a friendly, neutered male, as company and pal to such a female " cat hater".  While another girl will be more difficult to live with.
