I am new to this web site so forgive me if I don't post correctly. I got 2 of these boxes and when we lift them up to clean, the floor was wet where the cat's urine went through. Big disappointment.

I had to come back and respond again as my first review was a big THUMBS DOWN to this product; however, after I switched to The World's Best Litter I did get MUCH better results.  I've been using it for about 10 days and I've only had to rinse (not wash) the box out twice, due to sticking issues.  All of the other times I have been able to shake/sift, as they show on their advertisements, dump the waste, rotate the pan and place it on the bottom, and be on my way until the next time.  I have not had any issues with the pans separating and losing the litter on the floor, except the one time I forgot to add the third pan to the bottom.  I find if it I ensure I feel them nest together they are good to go as promised.

Although this litter is more expensive than what I previously used, I am discarding WAY less than I used to with the clumping clay-based litter, so I'm using way less litter.  I also find the litter is good at reducing odors.

I will continue to use my Luup, in conjunction with The World's Best Litter...and hope for my experience to stay the same.

Nay.

I bought one, waited forever for it to arrive & I hate it.

Litter sticks inside the slots, making the sifting virtually impossible.

Makes a HUGE mess & instead of needing to wash 1 litter box from time to time, I now must wash THREE & it must be done more frequently.

Don't waste your money.

It's a lot of hoopla over an overpriced, overly-engineered product that doesn't work well.

It truly is the BEST litter box. I have 2 giant 17 pound cats whose bladders are clearly bigger than mine, and one small 6 pounder. I hated scooping and breaking the clumps and changing the litter every week. There is a learning curve to the luuup, don't give up before you learn how to use it!

First, use lots of litter. Fill that thing UP. Then you won't have to deal with the wet litter sticking to the sides and bottom. When sifting hold the top tray just above the next tray and gently tilt it in all directions. This way the litter falls right into the one below. NEVER shake it! You will break up the pee clumps and dirty your clean litter.

Don't try to dump the poop and pee clumps into a bag, this will spill everywhere and make you angry.... trust me. We use one of the old litter boxes (cleaned, of course) to dump into. Then we bring it up to the garage garbage in that and dump it in. The next night, we grab the old box and bring it down for the nightly sifting.

For the first week and a half I hated the luuup. I regretted buying all 6 of them (as that was the only Kickstarter left). Now that I learned how to use it, I LOVE it! I would never go back. I have also tried the automatic scooping Littermaid ones and the luuup is by FAR better and bigger too!

I think it depends on the cat and the litter. I guess it could be ok if the litter you use clumps fast enough and your cat has no problem with using a large amount of litter + doesn't throw too much litter around. Nonetheless, that is not what I was promised and then had to wait around delay after delay.

Actually, I wish I had known from the beginning that it requires 3-4" of litter. Wouldn't have even considered backing it. That much litter is way too much for my kitty and she hates waddling through it. Because of that, she doesn't go far enough in the box, her bottom is beyond the edge and she pees in front of the box! On top of that, she is very picky about the type of litter I give her and the one she likes best, sticks to the sides of the box. Had to use wet wipes on the box every day. Also, because there is so much litter, the sides even with the guard are not tall enough and she throws litter out of the box all over the place. When I tried to use less litter, I found out that pee had seeped under the box!!

Count yourself lucky that it works for your cat+litter combo :)

Hi Roses,

I'm sorry this box did not work out for you. You are right about the quantity of litter needed, however it is a must in order for this box to work as touted.  Have you tried increasing the amount of litter gradually so your little one gets used to it?

I have two of these.  I bought them because I thought it would help make cleaning the litter box more efficient and quicker.  I have found the product to be far from ideal.  The clumping litter they have suggested sticks to the litter box, requiring additional cleaning.  Additionally some litter gets stuck in the slats, also requiring additional cleaning.  They give suggestions for ensuring litter doesn't fall through all of the levels, yet it still does.  You can search the internet for other dissatisfied customers and find many.  I would strongly suggest not buying this product.

Do you work for them? This is far from the "best litter box".  It's a gimmick product and way overpriced.

Lol. Nope! Maybe it works for me and not for others......

There are things I would change about the design. I would do a much deeper box as well as a bit bigger, BUT, out off all the litter methods I've tried, this one works the best. I've done daily scooping, self cleaning electric Litter Maid and Luuup. I know there is no "perfect system", it's litter for Pete's sake. There is no "perfect" way to deal with cleaning urine nand feces. Maybe toilet training is the best, but that will be something I attempt when my kids are grown and moved out [emoji]9786[/emoji]

I do wish there was some forum or something on the Luuup site itself to leave feedback.  I ordered two of these in September, so I didn't have to wait forever like some of you did.  Got them at the end of September and I've been using them ever since.  100% easier, imo.  I do wonder how much physical location and which type of litter plays into it.  I have three cats, one bigger tomcat and two smaller females.

I had been using Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat litter in the old boxes.  Switched to the recommended World's Best.  That shit is good stuff.  I got two 15 lbs bags because I was going to try to fill them each with the recommended 15 lbs.  No way was I doing that, 15 lbs would've filled it right up to the top and my cats would've flung that everywhere.  So I split the one bag into the two boxes.  They're about 1/2 - 2/3rds full.  Makes it easier to sift too.  I'd say I sift it about every other day or so.  Takes me about 5 minutes.  I have them in the basement, in a secluded spot on cement.  I'd certainly notice right away if they were leaking through to the bottom.  Because it would quickly reek down there.  Some kernels do get stuck on the filter openings when I sift, I just bang on it pretty hard and they pop out.  I use these in tandem with a Litter Genie.  Which I then empty weekly.  There's no super perfect way to prevent getting a tiny bit of scatter when dumping the waste into the Genie.  But my cats fling a small amount anyway, so I'm used to that clean up, weekly with the vacuum when I'm doing the rounds.

The amazing thing I've found, not sure if it's the litter or the boxes, probably both.  Is how much less litter I'm going through.  I just started using the clean 2nd bag of litter I bought at the end of Sept this week.  That means I only went through ONE 15lb bag of litter, with THREE cats in that time.  Which is crazy to me.  Completely worth the extra expense for the litter for me.  Because it ends up being much less in the long run.  I use the lavender scented stuff, which even smells decent.  I'm really happy with how it's working, sucks that some of you didn't have similar experiences.  If I had to have the boxes out in the living space, I'd have to do something about the scatter, and if it were on tile, that wouldn't work either.

thank you for this post.  I was so excited to get my Luuup boxes (i had to wait months and months!)  but the Dr. Elseys Cat Attract gets stuck in the grates of the bottom and create a huge mess.  the urine just sticks to the side of the Luuup and I takes way longer and than just scooping.  I will give the World's Best a shot and see if it works.  My only fear is that my one cat has a habit of going elsewhere, therefore the need for the Cat Attract......I may just get a new littler box and go back to scooping.

Huge NAY! It's awful.

I was skeptical from the start as to how on Earth this could possibly be sanitary. Well, it's not! It's impossible to keep some used litter from falling through all over your floor. Used littler gets clumped in the slots and then those dirty parts go right down on your floor - unless you scrub it every time you change it. Who does that though? One small mistake like forgetting to rotate a tray while changing means ALL of the litter gets dumped all over your floor. Better hope nothing distracts you while changing it, ever. You are supposed to keep at least FIFTEEN pounds of litter in it at all times for it to be effective (so the waste doesn't stick to the tray). That's not a problem for me, but for some that is a lot of weight to handle while bending over a litter box, and it still doesn't keep it from getting clogged up. We gave it a chance for two months, figuring we would get used to it and eventually think it was great. Nope. We just got more and more tired of dealing with it. In my opinion, best you avoid it altogether. We are back to a regular, old fashioned litter box as of today.

I have been using a rectangular three tray sifting litter box shared by two cats for over 10 years.  The only issue I had was that the trays were not deep enough to prevent deposits from clogging the sifting slots occasionally.  The rectangular corners would also occasionally collect stuff that stuck and had to be scrapped.

About a month ago I purchased a Luuup tray... same concept, but rounded base, no sharp corners, and somewhat deeper.  It works much better than my previous three tray sifting box.  I put a flat tray under the box but find that there has been virtually  no leakage.

Yes, dumping requires a larger garbage bag, but I have not found it onerous.

Yes, a larger no tray option would be appreciated for larger cats, and I have no experience with a litter tray cover, though I imagine that removal of the cover might cause a cascade of litter kicked up by the cats.

Finally, yes, forgetting to turn the tray after emptying the crap can cause a minor disaster the next time you sift the tray, the Luuup makes it obvious that you are about to make this mistake and you can correct it before any damage is caused.

Overall, I vote YAY to this product.

Anyone who gets one of these doesn't know much about cats.  All I have to do is look at it to know that some of the clumps are going to stick to the sides and to the bottom, esp. if your cats are of any size.  Since litter clumps now, I just can't understand why people think that scooping is such a chore that they have to come up with idiot ideas like this.

So Luuup Box arrived! Was anxious to try! I have a big boy with extra toes on all paws. And, he goes a lot! Wet lumps clung to the bottom requiring scrapping. Took me twice as long to do litter cleanup. Litter was flying everywhere! Box is too small. Glad I saved the old Box! And lifting up the sifter Box is super heavy. Good idea but only for smaller cat. Plus I used 1/2 more litter!

I have been using this since it was released and it's not what I'd hoped for. The video looks great and sold me on the spot. In practice, it's messier than anything I've used in the past. The cats are scattering litter everywhere. I've tried different litters, the holes in the trays get clogged. I clean the box once a day (I don't have time for more than that) and have 2 cats. The box, when full of litter and waste, is heavy and I struggle to shake it. Disposing in a bag is messy and awkward. My husband (who, btw, is NOT a cat lover) is over it. I have given it months of use and will be replacing it soon. Definitely NOT a better for us.

The WORST litter box ever. Requires daily cleaning, the whole box, poop sticks to the slats, disgusting. NO RETURNS policy. Scam.
