Hi ,just joined this site ,recently rehomed a cat from the RSPCA ,he is a year old DSH named Misha ,only had him since Tuesday seems to be settling in ok very playful ,keeping him in doors for the time being ,carried him to the front door but he seems scared of the outdoors but he likes to sit looking out of the window .

Don't know much about his past history .

Welcome, David and Misha!
You've come to the right place to learn about cats and talk about them with fellow cat lovers.   We'd love to see more pictures of him.  Bless you for rescuing this boy!   Based on your avatar picture, he is quite a beauty.  Let us know how he does as he continues to settle into your home!

Thanks for the warm welcome ,i had the front door open and he tried to make a break for it ,since then he sits near the front door and meows ,i have a harness and lead ,i think i will try him out with that next week.

He was eating Felix wet food plus dry food in the cattery ,i have been feeding him Whiskas wet food and go cat dry ,he goes mad for Felix goody bags .

Best to keep him in for two weeks minimum ;)  you can put the harness on anytime to get him used to it, I don't leave unsupervised at all anything can happen indoors, left alone can catch on things or they twist free a leg it gets to tight they can't get out asap without us. Just sharing

Tip/ When training to walk on leash:  harness up they always walk funny until used to it...then you can hold a toy wand his favorite infront of him connect leash watch him march forward to get toy wand. Easy to leash train ;)   If you're ever stuck with any training lots of help on this site.

Hi ,as much as i love cats ,there are times when he looks at me that makes my blood run cold .Other times when i stop stroking him he reaches out with his paw and touches my arm and all is forgiven .

Got him one of those igloo type beds and he used it for a nap today ,got a 10kl bag of fullers earth from lidl ,has any one ever used it ,same goes for their wet food .

I'm puzzled.  What kind of looks is Misha giving you that make your blood run cold?  Is he sizing you up for lunch?
Seriously, are these looks associated with any kind of aggressive behavior?  You don't mention any so I'm wondering if perhaps you are misinterpreting the way Misha looks at you.

I've never shopped at LidL so can't help there.

I've never used either, but from what I can see Lidl's wet food (I assume Coshida) is pretty decent for an economy food...its high meat, low carb and grain free - the first three markers of a good, species appropriate cat food. I'd steer clear of the dry food though - I can't find an ingredients list, but the different coloured kibbles on pack illustrations set alarm bells ringing for me..its a sure indicator of unnecessary colourings being used.

A fantastic resource for cat food and supplies is Zooplus. They have all kinds of brands that you won't find elsewhere, and their prices are generally lower too. I think the majority of European members here use them for one thing or another.

Welcome to TCS and the wonderful world of cat ownership :wavey: :catguy:

Sometimes when i think he is really contented sitting on my lap he tucks his front paws under him .

Tried taking him outside with the harness on today ,he took a few steps outside and then ran back indoors ,might have been a bit early ,but later he did make it past me through the door ,he came back when i shook the go cat box.

Hi ,will have been in the service of Misha 2 weeks tomorrow ,he was sitting in the window today ,he was making these quiet gentle meows ,i know it sounds silly but it sounded like he was crying .

So i took him outside ,i had a Felix goody bag  with me ,he had a good look round ,when i felt he was going a bit far i would shake the bag and give him one or two treats ,wasn't outside more than 3 minutes when he heard something he didn't like and rushed back indoors .

He has taken to lying across the 2 chairs under the table .

Hi ,Misha has been here almost 6 weeks ,the rspca woman came yesterday ,she said everything looked fine she said i should limit the wet food to one pouch a day and give him dry food .

I am a bit worried that he might be grooming himself too much there are a few red patches where the fur is a bit thin.
