My latest rescue kitty, Felix (about 6 months old) has done something to his paw on his right hind leg. Swollen, can't put any weight on it. First time I have had a cat to literally cry out in pain(I have had a LOT of cats)making sounds like they do when they are getting ready to fight. Anyway, funds are extremely tight and a trip to the vet will be tough to handle. But I will do what I have to do.  Just wondered if anyone had experienced this with their babies and what we might could do. This happened on Monday - he came back in and limping a little, we looked at his paw saw a little blood but nothing else.  Husband cleaned it and put neosporin on it. Tuesday he seemed fine - went out for a bit - came back in and it has gotten worse ever since.  He is restless when he tries to sleep and I can tell he is suffering.  Any suggestions? I want it to be something we can treat at home, but my gut tells me otherwise.  Thank you for reading this.

I agree about taking Felix to the vet.

I had a cat years ago that had a really swollen leg.  She was still putting weight on it and was not acting like she was in pain at all.  The swelling and the redness looked awful so I took her to the vet right away.  It turned out she had a nasty infection in her leg.  It had to be drained and she was put on antibiotics.  This was not very expensive to treat and she healed quickly from this issue.  I later found out from a friend that the vet I went to near my house was actually the most expensive vet in the area too.

I am not sure where you live but you could trying calling different vets offices sometimes vets will do a free exam or office visit for new patients.  This could be something to look into to help save some money.
