I really have the travel bug right now...probably because I haven't gone out of the US in almost 2 years...But I have a couple of tentative things going on for the future.  My friend might plan a trip to go to Thailand.  We went together and with a few other people about 10 years ago and had SO much fun!  We went all over Thailand and we didn't just do touristy stuff because my friend is Thai and she has family there.  But that's super tentative so it may not happen.  I'm also planning to go to New Zealand for 2 weeks next March since their seasons are switched.  February is the end of their expensive and busy tourist season.  This would also be my first solo trip that I'm planning on my own.  I don't have a lot of friends but the few that I have are of quality.  But unfortunately it's hard to get people to travel.  I think this solo trip will also be appropriate since I'll be 30 next March so it'll be a sign of true independence.  I picked New Zealand because to me it's uncharted territory and sooo different from my daily life.  So many things to do and see!  And at the same time, it's a safe place so even women can easily travel there alone.

Anyone have any travel plans for the future or have gone somewhere recently?  Share the details of your experiences and future plans.  :)

We go on cruises every other year. We're going next year. We live in Iowa and the winters are horrible so to break up the monotony of boring, frigid weather we go to the Caribbean. I want to go every year! I'm ready to go right now. [emoji]128522[/emoji] I have passport! I've never been to Australia or New Zealand. Sounds fun. I've never been to Europe. I wouldn't mind seeing Ireland either bc my ancestry is nearly pure Irish. My daughter's Grandmother went to Thailand a few years ago & brought back some very nice gifts for my daughter. My sister lives in Quebec [emoji]133655818726[/emoji] and I have not been there to see her yet. Sigh. So much of this world to see! [emoji]127758[/emoji][emoji]9992[/emoji]️

We used to travel quite a bit by car. I have never been anywhere on a plane or by boat. I am too old to start now.

I'm a bit leery about international travel these days. :dk:

We are going away in a few weeks, but only a few hours drive away. :)

I don't think enough americans go out there and travel!  I feel like the ones least interested in traveling are those who have never ventured out of the U.S.  Of course, how would you know that something is so interesting, fun and freeing unless you try it in the first place??

I've been to all 48 contiguous states but never to Alaska or Hawaii. We travelled a lot when I was a child so I don't remember much of the East coast because I was young. I've been to Mexico a few times but didn't really count as travel outside the country. When we go to the Caribbean it's amazing. I want to travel! My fiancé is content just staying in boring, freezing cold Iowa. I want to go everywhere. Anywhere warm, anywhere but here. [emoji]127774[/emoji][emoji]9728[/emoji]️ I used to be afraid of foreign travel bc I was afraid of communication difficulties bc I only speak English but I'm not concerned with that now. I just want to see the world. I'm just afraid of leaving Nala Ava Marie! She's only 5 1/2 months old.

I'd love to travel but with for the foreseeable future it's not going to happen.

I'm a widow. My DH had no life insurance. He thought that if there was a policy in place with someone as the beneficiary, that meant they planned to kill you or just wanted you dead. He watched too much TV

My DD is a junior in college. I banked the 2 years of survivor's benefits for her for her college expenses that ended when she turned 18. It's dwindling fast. Grad school is on the horizon. That's more important than traveling. So far, she has no student loan debt thanks to scholarship money. I plan to keep it that way so I need to keep costs down.

I also have the furkids. I need to be around for them. Boarding is expensive and really not good for them. They bring far more to my life than any vacation could.

If I COULD travel? Oh man. I'd go everywhere. All over Europe, Australia, Japan, China, Thailand, etc, etc... It would be great. I've never been out of the US but it's not because I don't want to. It's just that I need to keep my priorities in order. Maybe when DD is done with school and is settled in her career..

I studied abroad in London in 2012.  It was my first time out of the country and my first time on a plane. Ever since I was little, I had always wanted to travel and see the world.  I was originally planning on studying abroad in France, but my fourth semester of French in college was so tiring that I changed my mind.  I lived there for 3 months and met people from all over the world.  It was an amazing, scary, thrilling, sometimes lonely, and truly life changing experience.  I visited Amsterdam and Rome during that time as well.  I flew to Bologna to meet up with a friend, but took the train to Rome by myself, toured the city by myself, and stayed in a hostel for the first time!  I was terrified because it was my first time in a country where I didn't speak the language, but most people there knew English.   Rome is a beautiful place and my favorite destination yet.

In 2014 I flew to Mexico to visit a friend that I had met in London.  I stayed in Mexico City for a week and flew to Cancun for a week.  Cancun was gorgeous and warm and the water was blue.  I haven't been anywhere since then.  My bf and I were hoping to backpack through Thailand as well, but alas money issues are making it impossible.  We are hoping to move to LA next year, so hopefully that satisfies my travel bug for now.  Having cats does make it really hard to travel, but hopefully in the future the cats can stay at home and we'll just hire a cat sitter.

My wish list destinations are Japan, New Zealand, and Paris!!  (But everywhere, really.)

I travel as much as I can! We lived in Seoul, South Korea for three years, and that allowed us to see many parts of Asia. Thailand and New Zealand were my favorite places. PM me if you want any details!

I was in the Army for 8 years during the cold war and was stationed in what was West Germany for 5 years.  I traveled through most of what was then Western Europe.  I would like to go to sub-Saharan Africa on a wildlife tour.  I would also like to go to India specifically to go on one of the tours where people can go out on elephant to look for a tiger.  Many people never get a glimpse of a tiger in the wild even after going out for several days but I would like to try.

I think this was St. Lucia or St. Croix, somewhere in the Caribbean.
Beautiful picture!

Now they say even going to South Africa is dangerous.  :(  Unfortunate really.

I use to travel quite a bit, been to New Zealand, Japan, Southern, Western and Eastern Europe. I have to say that Vienna was the place I enjoyed the most. It has this alive feeling that is hard to explain. Oh and Prague is amazing too

My parents traveled quite a bit later in life.  One of the places they went was New Zealand and it was their favorite trip.

The main reason is that Midi is getting older I don't want to leave him. He gets so stressed when I leave him for an extended period of time. His well-being is my top priority. I love that little guy

When my hubby was still here, we used to pack up 2 guinea pigs, four cats, and one dog and hit the road! It was a FULL car. Gosh, I miss those days.
