Hello!

I've had my kitten, Luna, for a few months now. She's a little over 7 months old. She's such a sweetheart and loves to cuddle & play. She has such a pretty, unique coat. She seems like a total striped tabby until she lays on her back to show her belly (which she does often

Hello to @LunaBelle  and Luna!!
I do not know about cat breeds, and I know another member will know, but I can see why you are asking!  I am very interested too,, because your kitty has some AMAZING markings and stripes!  She is absolutely beautiful!  I really look forward to seeing you and Luna in the forums and to find out what breed she is.

She's a mackerel tabby. Tabbies usually have "buttons" on their bellies :D. The cool thing about tabbies is that no 2 kitties have the same marking, every one is unique!

Yes, Luna has a very unique look.  My tabby Rachel never did have these spots.  Luna's markings are really beautiful!  She has a beautiful long tail, too.  Something very special about her look!  She must bring you a lot of happiness, @LunaBelle  !

Interseting! I definitely am not super informed about tabby variations, so I had assumed mackerel tabbies had solid white necks and bellies like my older mackerel tabby does.

The white is just a "bonus"---it has nothing to do with what type of tabby they are. You can have a classic tabby with white or without, a mackerel tabby with white or without, a spotted tabby with white or without, etc. It all depends how much white the parent cats had.
