Does anyone know of a cat fountain out there that states it does not cause chin acne? I am also wondering if the plastic that states no BPA would not cause the problem
There are stainless steel and ceramic water fountains you can buy. Keeping the fountain clean will help prevent bacteria build up which may cause acne. Keeping the cat's chin clean will also help. Cat's can't clean under their chins. Wiping the chin with a damp tissue or washcloth helps. Some people like to use pet wipes or Stridex acne pads (the kind for people).
You didn't mention the age of your cat. FWIW: Archie (my orange tabby) suffered Acne when he was a youngster. The vet told me that he would likely grow out of it, which he did.
I'm not suggesting that you ignore the problem or that you don't switch to a stainless or ceramic fountain, only that some cats are simply prone to Acne. If you haven't talked to your vet about the problem I would start with that conversation. I wish you and your cat the best of luck.
