Looking for some thoughts, advice or experiences... Our cat, who's about 9 or 10 years old went limp and unresponsive a couple days ago. After multiple vet trips, the vet determined that she had internal bleeding and her blood was not clotting. First thought was rodenticide poisoning. More tests showed an enlarged spleen and later found cancer in the spleen and liver.

As of now, the vet has been able to somewhat stabilize the cat's blood count and clotting. We're really struggling with how to move forward. Surgery to remove the spleen is an option. Our concern is what quality of life will she have if she makes it out of surgery. Curious if anyone has had a similar situation. Thanks.

Oh wow, poor kitty! I've never had to go through this before, but hopefully someone can come along with some advice or experience to share. Keeping you and your kitty in my thoughts, and sending healing vibes :vibes:

I'm sorry. I don't know how liver cancer is treated today, but we had a cat last maybe 2 months about 25 years ago. The vet gave us pain meds for him, but he went downhill pretty quickly, sorry to say. Has your vet offered any options besides surgery?

I'm so sorry you had to receive this diagnosis :-(    Is it possible to see a board certified oncologist? That might give you some options. You might also join the Yahoo Support group for Feline Cancer- someone else might have direct experience with this type of cancer.

I'm sorry, I don't have experience with spleen or liver cancer; mine had pancreatic cancer that was inoperable and basically untreatable- I lost her in a very short period of time. I just wanted to also send my strongest vibes for comfort, clarity and healing for you and your kitty. big hugs

Thank you all. Just talked to the vet and the options were try to get her stable for surgery or put her down. They do have an oncologist there so we're on good hands. We've decided to try the surgery route. There's a change that the cat doesn't make it, but we were told it would be painless. At least we give her a chance to make it.

I am sorry.  I have no experience with it.  I know someone here whose kitty had cancer in the liver and had surgery done.  There is a supplement called Denamarin that is good for general liver condition that you could ask your vet about using after the surgery.  It contains SamE and milk thistle.  I used it when my kitty had fatty liver and I think it did help.
