Any moderately-priced duck flavored canned food out there?

Have you tried any of Tractor Supply Company's 4Health canned foods? Since your fur baby doesn't have an allergy and you're just trying to find something that he will eat consistently, I thought that TSC was worth mentioning. They have extremely good quality grain free canned food (no vegetable ingredients or fillers and two of their varieties have no carrageenan). They are only $0.69 per 5.5 oz can. My favorite varieties are the turkey and giblets and the chicken dinner in gravy. My fur babies love their food and my wallet loves not paying as much.

No, I've never tried that brand. Thanks for that!!! There's a local tractor supply, so on my way to Petco to pick up a test can or two of Whole Earth Farms, I might try them. But I think it's the duck flavor he likes; he's even turning his nose up at Sheba these days. Maybe once his poor eye clears up, so will his appetite.

Nutro Max Cat has a Duck flavor and my cat loves it and licks the bowl clean.
Yes my guys LOVE the Nutro Max Cat chunky duck - only bad thing is it only comes in a 3oz size (at least at my  Petco) - I wish it came in the bigger sizes.

My cats love all the Nutro Max Cat varieties - but I know the duck is their favorite one!

What are the ingredients for this? (My big question is always about thickeners because of our cat's potato problem!) I looked this one up online but it's not on their site yet. No carrageenan is always a good start! Our cats love shreddy foods and I'm always looking for new options.
I'm definitely buying a couple cases of this. At these prices, I might be able to feed Robin canned exclusively!!
Hurray for that! Seriously, that's great. I happened to go to Petco tonight and noticed that the Merrick LID was $1.69/can there.

Whole Earth Farms duck pate is very reasonably priced. (just under $1 per 5 oz can if you buy from chewy.com) The ingredients are really similar to Merrick.
Thanks for this, too: I thought this one had potato but it doesn't. I may have to look into this one, too! This looks like a chicken/duck version of the Merrick LID duck food.

The chicken dinner in gravy is thickened with potato starch. Bummer, it sounds like if it weren't for the potato, that would be a good option for you!

There are so-so-so many foods I would gladly feed if they didn't have various forms of potato in them!

That would certainly be a difficult one to navigate around. I would hazard a guess that a lot of the types that are chunks in gravy would have that in them.

Potato is ubiquitous! And I don't really think it should be in cat food in the first place!

Oh, what a mixed bag. Robin has finally discovered a canned food he not only likes, but LOVES, And actually EATS. Not only eats, but INHALES. Which means finally, no more waste.

The problem? It's Merrick grain-free duck pate. Not sure if it's the limited ingredient stuff but almost certain it is, as this food was from my sister after her IBD Kitty passed. [emoji]128532[/emoji] And he could not eat normal proteins.

The sticker says $2.50 a can. At that rate, Id have to limit his canned severely, though if he actually EATS it, it might be worth it. But now that I'm certain he likes duck, I'd like to see if there are any other brands out there with duck as the main or only meat ingredient. I looked online but wow--hardly any!!!!

So I figure I'd go to the best source of cat information in the planet and ask the members here at TCS...are there any other brands of canned food with duck with a more moderate price? Or place that sells Merrick?
Thanks so much!!
Have you tried the Pride by Instinct duck? They have flaked and minced. It does have turkey in it too but it's a good food. Mine also like the Merrick LID duck

Most of the meals contain chicken, including beef. That would mean you'd be feeding chicken almost every day if you were to use WEF exclusively. Likely fine on a brand rotation though. I see  Chicken and Turkey are all chicken or turkey exclusively. Those two I'm most interested in.

I totally second @LisaHE  about the Nutro Natural Choice Duck pate! My cat doesn't even like duck but he does like the duck flavor of Nutro Natural Choice :) It's about $1 for a 3-3.3 oz can.

Update: he likes the Whole Earth Farms duck nearly as much as the Merrick! [emoji]128077[/emoji]

Will post an update on other flavors (then I'll post reviews).I went and bought quite a variety today. Merrick, Whole Earth, 4Health, various flavors, almost all grain free except for a can of 4Health that's for indoor cats.

I did find the grain chicken and gravy at Tractor Supply, so Im pretty stoked and VERY grateful to everyone who took the time to post advice!! [emoji]128079[/emoji]

On the other hand, not so sure I agree with that NY Times story that you can't won't hate you if you put them on a diet, lol!! [emoji]128516[/emoji] However, he's on target to lose a 1/4 pound a week which is what vet advised as he's already lost 1/4 pound. Yay!! He really was getting by on 1/2 c dry!!

So now I guess I'll have to figure out how much to feed him with the canned in there. I'm thinking a scant 1/4 cup with a half of a 5 oz can but will need to crunch numbers. Hmmmm

Nature's Variety Instinct Grain Free Duck in 13 oz dog food sized cans.    Yes it has Taurine in it.   IMO best bang for the buck.

I can't find any that doesn't specify dog food but thanks, I'll keep looking.

Meanwhile, guess who I got a picture of, going right for Whole Earth Farms in yet another flavor he likes--ignoring the kibble right next to him?

Sadly, he didn't like any other brand of canned of the 5 I bought, but that's ok. To see him clean plate after plate after plate of SOME canned food...finally!!

A couple of things, try mixing something he likes with the new stuff. The other thing I've found is my pickiest cat warms up to new stuff more on the 2nd & 3rd time served. Eating it up the 3rd time she's seen and smelled it. I think some people pull the plug to soon on new unfamiliar foods for their cats.

Fyi...That's the point of buying the cans labeled as dog food. They're bigger so you pay less per oz.  NV Instinct (aside from pork variety) canned is the same regardless of whether it's labeled "dog" or "cat".

I feed this brand to my main coons (2) mixed with dry.

I thought dogs and cats required different supplements, esp taurine?

Yes, usually this is the case - food marketed for dogs is specifically for dogs as is that for cats. With Nature's Variety's Instinct line (canned only, not kibble), AAFCO approved the same canned formulas as being complete and balanced for both dogs and cats.  Cats must have taurine in their diet but dogs also benefit from taurine for cardiovascular health.

Nature's Logic also has the same formulas for dogs / cats - although I'm not sure if they've received AAFCO approval yet.
