I'm really working hard on reigning in my cat food budget. With 2 permanent residents and often having a foster, we've been buying a lot of cans of food. It adds up fast if I'm not careful. One thing that I'm especially trying to do is work on finding more cat food coupons and try to stock up on cat food when it's on sale or when I have a coupon.

Today, the plan is to buy Sheba pate, Fancy Feast Classics, and a bunch of Tractor Supply 4Health grain free canned food, all with coupons.

In the Midwest we have a store called Meijer's. They have a program called Mperks which are digital coupons. Not only does Mperks have digital coupons, but often they print store coupons at the check out. Because I sign in with my account each time I purchase, they tend to print me coupons relevant to what I need. So I got a store coupon for Fancy Feast recently, $1 off of 8 cans. I also have a digital coupon for Sheba and am going to use a printable coupon for Tractor Supply for $5 off of $25.

Not too long ago, Friskies 13 oz cans were on sale for $0.70 each! I bought 36 of them.

So, what are your favorite ways to find coupons and deals on canned cat food?

I replied to your PM about the TSC coupon but here it is again in case anyone else wants to use it

I also use Coupons.com for printable coupons. I check Petsmart's sales. I found 13 oz cans of the Grreat Choice mixed grill for .67 once. They also often put coupons on the receipts for  $5 off your next shopping trip

I love Amazon's subscribe and save. I get a lot of canned food from them. They do have the Sheba available.

I have more than 5 items in my S&S so I get the 15% discount. I just checked the Sheba to see what it would cost me and it would be $10.91 with tax for 24 cans.  That's .45 cents a can. WM gets .50 a can and no driving to go get it or standing on line.

I try to look up sales too. I need to do that more. And coupons. I rarely shop Meijers but may need to check them out too. Also have never been to Tractor Supply so should look into them, but they are a bit out of the way.

Will have to check coupons.com one of these days. I'm not one for "couponing" usually but feel I probably should do it more often.

Kat0121 Kat0121 , that is a great price for Grreat Choice! I found the 5.5 oz cans for $0.45 on Saturday at Petsmart, which allowed me to donate 48 instead of 24 cans of cat food on Saturday.

I donate food also. Coupons.com had coupons for Purina Muse buy 2 get 6 free and Science Diet buy one get one. I printed as many as I could and brought the food to the shelter I got Henry from. Amazon had the Merrick thanksgiving day dinner 5.5 ounce cans on sale in October and with my S&S was even better. I brought the shelter 2 cases the day before thanksgiving so the kitties could have a special treat on turkey day. They were pretty happy about that.

I also donate any canned foods that the kids won't eat. They usually wait until I buy a case to reject something.

I wish that I had a PetSmart nearby! Is the Grreat Choice grain free?

Woot!

I went to Tractor Supply to get my cat food and found out that they had two new flavors of 4Health grain free canned food. One was chicken dinner in gravy (with no fish! Yay!) and the other was a salmon option. That means that 4Health grain free canned food has 4 flavors instead of only two! That makes enough variety to where I'm comfortable feeding 4Health almost exclusively. At $0.69 per 5.5 oz can, my cat food budget is going to be considerably more on track now! I'm going to feed the turkey and chicken flavors as primary, with a few meals of salmon dinner or chicken & whitefish pate thrown in for variety.

The fur kids both gave 4 paws up to the new chicken dinner. It reminds me a lot of Red Barn Naturals tricky chicky except for the fact that it's $0.30 cheaper per can and the pieces of chicken are larger.

I am waiting for the day when we all keep writing to the attorney general complaining about price fix gauging in the pet food industry. Just as an example fancy feast used to go on sale for 40 and sell for 50 cents regularly just a few years ago - it is the same ingredients and yet the prices everywhere increased by the same amount everywhere. Look at cat litter. I bought Dr elsey on sale for $12 when it was regularly $15 now only a couple years later after good reviews it sells for over $20 - same price within a couple dollars of each other everywhere. Then the formula changed and now it stinks like all the rest of them - getting dustier and clumps sticking like glue to the bottom with urine smells. As soon a a food or a product starts getting good reviews and selling - they jack the prices up by almost the same amount in every store locally and online. It is like a giant price fixing conspiracy. No way should we be forced to pay $1.50 for a stinking can of  good quality cat food that costs pennies to make or $15 and higher for a bag of clay or silica but we are and we do. I complained to the manufacturer and they said they didn't raise their prices in years but the retailers are raising them to increase their own profits. So I complained to my attorney general and told them to look into price fixing in the industry but unless tons of people start complaining and noticing this they won't look into it.
