Hi I recently adopted a new cat after the loss of my other one. She is a black one year old cat and she won't eat the evangers dry food and Sheba canned we give our 8 month old kitten penny. She dosent like fish either that a no go either. At the shelter she ate science diet and Sheba. I don't want her to eat science diet. Please help me get her on the food we have for our cat penny.

You could start her off with the Science Diet and then gradually mix in more and more of the food you want her to eat until she is off the Science Diet entirely.  Also, you can try putting toppers on her food - things like crumbled cheese, fortiflora or bonito flakes.  Is she at least eating the Sheba since she was eating Sheba at the shelter?

You can't really expect her to eat the same thing your other cat eats when she's used to eating something else. I would feed her what the shelter was feeding her and slowly try and introduce new foods. It's possible she won't like what your other cat eats, but there are lots of foods you could try that are in the same budget range until you find something she likes. My 10 cats all eat different foods.

If she likes Friskies, let her have it for now, and work on transitioning her to something you feel better about feeding. The Fancy Feast patés are pretty decent, and most cats love them. Might be worth trying ;)

This article has some great tips and tricks too :) [article="31138"][/article]
