Mojo has had her spaying today, picked her up at 3 is now 12, I've read up on all the aftercare. It said she may not want to eat for 'at least 24 hours' but she was clearly very hungry, as she was sniffing and mowing in her food area. Not like a wailing 'mum why is my bowl empty?!' more like mow mow mow I'd eat a horse if you let me. So I put a portion of food down, then another, then another. I was fine with this no sickness etc. Except I haven't seen any sort of toiletting signs from her except a light scratching in her main area and a casual sniffing in her recovery area. Am I doing something wrong? she has plenty of water. I'm trying to let her get on with it really she's moving about brilliantly jumping more than we would like her to, and using her scratching posts as normal.

All the posts I've read none have mentioned when she might pass waste and I'm getting kind of worried.

I think it really depends on how much she eats/drinks today. She probably eliminated before the surgery, and I'm assuming fasted all night, so nothing for her to eliminate at this point. I can't remember exactly when I saw Penelopy use the litter box, but I would think by the morning she should be going. She may have a "body clock" she runs on too. I know Penelopy does, not sure about my others.

Thankyou Donutte for your quick reply, she was indeed fasted before surgery. as so far as a body clock, perhaps I should go for a bath as that's when she usually likes to deliver!

Possibly, but I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't go before tomorrow, at least not poop. I would imagine she may pee before that though, depending on how much she drinks.

Thank you for the replies, she did go for a wee at about 3 am that morning, yes I waited. and she has pooped once since my original post.

she's been back for a stitches check and the vet said she is doing absolutely fine. Such a relief.

thanks again x
