Hi mum pregnant cat is due any time now, I have been able to see the kittens move for around 2 or so weeks, she has stopped eating since last night and h :rbheart:ave been drinking lots, nesting has been for about 2weeks and has had clear discharge on her privates for 5 days now and her tummy over the last couple days have became tight today is really hard.
I called the vets today for advice they said she is due around now and keep her confined i the room where she has chosen to nest as I have other cats (thankfully all spayed) she is also enjoying me sitting next to her box rubbing her tummy she normally hate that but I'm finding it hard to sit with her as I have a 1 and 6 yr old to look after also she is becoming aggressive to my other pets and they normally love each other any ideas? :rbheart:

Sounds like she is very close to labor. She may be aggressive because she doesn't want theme around her kittens. I would keep her separated from them as stress can cause her to stall her labor. My cat gave birth Saturday very early in the morning, the day before she ate half of her morning canned food and refused any food after that. She was moving between her bed and the nest I set up for her. Friday evening I went to check on her and she was contacting. She wanted her belly rubbed which was definitely not like her as she would get very upset before if you would try to touch her belly. If you can't sit in there then I would just check on her every so often. It sounds as though she is very close though!

It's normal for mom's to be aggressive to other people and animals when they are close to delivery and when the babies are young. She is nesting and feeling protective.

She sounds very close. I would make sure that she has access to as much kitten food as she wants, fresh water, and a litter box near her nest.

It's also very important that she stays inside until she can be spayed when the kittens are 8 weeks old.

I would bet she has them by Thursday but probably sooner, although Duchess is the only pregnant cat I have been around but your cat's "symptoms" sound like how she was on Friday and the first kitten was born just after midnight Saturday morning.

The biggest thing is not to Panic!  lots of changes are going on
she will pick up on your stress

not good, stay calm jump back on here with any minor concerns...Relax...as long as she has her 'den' set up where she will have them she can go out stretch walk for a bit she'll let you know when she wants back in the room, food water in there as well? best to not allow the other cats in there so she knows it's her area only. Someone will walk you through the whole birthing process no worries.

It sounds like the kittens have dropped into the birth canal. You see less movement when this happens. Her stomach may also be hard because she is having pre-contractions. All sounds normal to me. I would avoid the stress of taking her to the vet at this point.

Not sure if she's having contractions
My heavily pregnant cat I'm sure she got caught on the week before Xmas
Its been about 3weeks I have been able to see the kittens move
She has been getting dried clear discharge around her privates
Today I was rubbing her tummy softly fr her while she was in her nest
And I felt a warm wet on her nipples, I looked and thy were dry must have been tiny bit
Of milk.
Soon after she kept licking her privates and tummy.
Then stopped done a massive sigh with a put.
Then once a minute it looked like contractions started from just under her ribs
Down her belly this happens 5xs but since has stopped and she's just laying
Stretched out looking tiered are these contractions?

Yes, it sounds like she is at least in pre-labor and is having contractions.

One moment she seems ready the next she seems normal.

She's just laboring.  It can be a slow process.  You only need to worry if she's in distress.

Stage one labor can last for 24 hours. As mentioned, it could also be pre-labor. Clear discharge often begins a day or two before full labor. Have you read any of our articles on pregnant cats? Try to relax a bit. This will take time!

Happy to help!!

Yes- all of the articles on this site are very informative. I use them often.

This will take time but it will progress. Keep checking on her. Some cats are very needy during labor and want their human mom to stay by their side, others do not.. She will let you know what she needs. Just relax. We're here if you need us and please feel free to post lots of pictures of the babies when you are able to.
