I love to watch the behavior of my cats and learn from them. When I was around 12 years old I wrote my first fiction book (well, the first one I had actually finished) based after the behavior of our pet cats. Now, after all these years, I still learn from our cats and add their personalities into the personalities of the cats in my books. I even began a book based after them, their true stories. They are so graceful, thoughtful, strong, and intelligent, so full of character, they make wonderful central characters and side characters for a story and not only that but it is so much fun to write about them. To capture a cat in words is like poetry.

None of my cat books are even published, I just like to read them to myself and to my family. Maybe someday I'll get to publish the one I wrote as a kid (after a spell check of course).

With how much money cat books are making, especially these days, it's worth giving a try. Have you seen how many people show up to James Bowen book signings with his cat Bob? Hundreds or thousands of people, all there to get Bob's "paw print" signature.

Cats are worth it.  : )

I'm signing up to volunteer at the local shelter so hopefully I'll be getting a lot more inspiration for my books. I might even begin fostering kittens.

The Mu was the inspiration behind some of the ceramics I made. She was my first rescue and was in a terrible state when I took her to the vet. She had to stay at the clinic for three weeks and have several surgeries before she was well enough to come home. The vet kept telling me that she might not make it, so every day when I went to visit her I'd tell her;

"Live! If you stay alive you can come and live with me and I'll love you forever."

She's been with me for 7 years now.

Here's The Mu.

When it gets cold outside and the barn cats and feral that live there start feeling the chill I have to find all the ways I can make them comfortable. I put out old cushions, blankets and sheets, set up boxes and carpet, wood, and crates and metal trash cans tipped on their side. Ramps of wood lead up to the safety of the hayloft and tunnels and passage ways let them slip from room to room where they can find warm water, food kept away from our chickens, and places to hide should something scare them such as the coyotes at night. Other people might look at the barn and think it is a mess, but I have it set up just the way I want it for the animals.  : )

Here is Tiger-tail, enjoying a nest box to rest in. He never would hurt the chickens or chicks, in fact, the chickens will chase him if he gets too near them.

My cats inspire me to attempt feats of acrobatics to get to out-of-reach places.

My cats have all inspired me to keep up my Japanese studies. My vet doesn't speak any English and I want to be sure I can explain to him exactly what is wrong and understand what he tells me.

Congratulations @Tallyollyopia  and @Crazy4Strays  View media item 329558
These are the winning posts -
While cleaning today one of our cats, Slipper, jumped into my sewing box and was playing with my fabric pieces (I cut them from old clothes). So, I decided to make them a cat toy. After all, they clearly like the fabric I have, right? So, I took some fabric and made this.

I added the fabric strips, because they love playing with strings and cords, so I thought it'd get their attention.

And they do. (This is Spot, by the way.)

My adorable rescued stray has opened up to me creative endeavors that I never would have pursued, without his presence in my life. He's the cat who helped me to realize that I'm a cat lover. Because of him, I rehabilitated an elderly cat. Because of him, I got into cat fostering, which is something I never would have even previously considered.
Thank you everyone for your participation and congratulations to our winners!

Congratulations to you both.

@Tallyollyopia  Well done, a Kitnip Box and a book. You seem to be on a bit of a winning streak, are you going to buy a lottery ticket next?
