So him being able to repair fast means you guys think he has a chance or getting better or no?
No one can say for sure. I question the pain issue if he is eating. If you took him home with a recommendation to PTS I question a vet that would send him home without some pain relief.

Caution. In an ambulatory injury you don't want to totally deaden the pain. The animal can do more damage because they feel no pain. Nourishment and water are going to enhance his ability to heal. If you have to resort to force feeding at every meal that would probably be an indication that he is not improving and you need to help him pass.

Not thinking pain med is all that important at this point, however the steroid would still be, keep the inflammation at bay as he heals.

Is he eating on his own?

He doesn't have pain medicine but he has steroids still. He is eating on his own, he almost too on my finger off for chicken earlier :) he responds to pain in all 4 feet. He stretches his legs and they move when he dreams. I'm not hopeful for his back legs but I really hope his front leg comes around. He will sit up and look around, roll over and is alert. He's fussy when he has to potty and when he's uncomfortable

I don't like animals to suffer. That said too much pain medication can inhibit healing. The fact this little cat is chowing down is good. If it's moving through even better. Should he have a bit of pumpkin to ward off and stoppage ?

I'm wondering if gentle massages on his legs might help. I know he growls but does he try to bite?
I was also think, but it's probably massive expensive, the baths arthritic dogs are put into to help them walk. I know some places have them for cats hydra therapy? ,
Could.any nerves have been damaged in his neck that doesn't show up on his xrays ?? You say you have to help him.pee but what about his business? ,
Don't decide Friday. Give him more time. Try gentle massage.

This is WONDERFUL news!! You and Reeves certainly have a lot of people cheering you on!

I agree with what others have said and wouldn't listen to the last vet you saw.

YOU know Reeves better than anyone at this point and will do whatever is in his best interest. You have gotten him this far and he appears to be making good progress.

How are his wounds now? I'm anxious for him to be put in water.

Deep water, so his legs will dangle like in the bathtub. He will hate it at first, but that's okay too.

He needs his muscles worked asap so there isn't too much loss.

I picture a sling under his body with legs dangling, or 2 small balloons with a short cloth attached to each balloon so one is on each side of his body, cloth holds him up.

I have quite a creative imagination!

Cats hide pain but that cat is pretty much smiling.  Is he eliminating  ? It sure looks like he's improving daily. If he recovers he may always have some limitations. That doesn't mean he can't lead a full and happy life.  Thank you for the update and picture.

OMG!! what a cutie!!

If he can roll over; well, that is MAJOR!  I do not think a paralyzed cat would be able to do that!

Keep massaging and exercising the limbs....almost like a gentle walking position...

And Catwoman707 has a great idea about water therapy...

He is still small enough that you could make a wide sling to support his belly, with you holding it up and him trying to swim...It may just work...or trying to walk in the water...  Or something like children's water wings; you the things they put on their upper arms, when learning how to swim...or even a pool noodle, a piece of it...sliced in half--like a half moon.

I have seen this being done, in a much more sophisticated environment, when I was at the Vet Hospital with Artie.

While we were waiting for his appointment, I sat outside the Physical Therapy department. They have a treadmill underwater for the animals. They do the water therapy. They monitor: speed, distance, and time....just like a regular treadmill...so cool to watch...They have one tech in front and one in back of the tank...have the dog in there free standing. Sometimes the owner is there also, talking  and watching...

We are all rooting for this little guy.....

Please do not give up on him, now...Tomorrow is Friday-he has improved so much since last week....Milestones, really....remember the kitten who was frozen to death and came back to life, after hours of CPR....

Where there is love, there is hope....

((hugs))

I can only say that if she goes to put him in water she may find out just how ambulatory he really is. I would use the water approach with great caution while he's still so fragile.
