I adopted two cats from the same litter. I was told they were brother and sister. I brought them home when they were 3 about months. The male cat was always sociable and well behaved. The female cat has never been very sociable and she pees everyday on our couch.  Its been like that for almost 3 years. We had to change couches 3 times already. I live in a 3 level townhouse and we have a little box on the first level in a secluded room for privacy and another on the second level right next to the couch. I have tried everything (chemical and online tricks) without any luck. The male cat sometimes chases her and sometimes i wonder if he does that because he knows she is doing something wrong. It seems like they don't get along but mostly stay out of each others way.  Please can someone help me? I cant afford to keep buying new couches.

So, it sounds like the male cat is actually bullying the female. This can make her uncomfortable with using the litter box, especially if he's chased her out of it. It can also make her want to comfort herself by leaving her scent around the house.

First, I would take her to vet to make sure she doesn't have a uti. Then I would add more litter boxes around the house so she has more options. You can always cut back down later. Use cat attract litter in your boxes. Also use an enzyme cleaner anywhere she has peed. This will prevent her from wanting to go back to those spots.

I would also try feliway diffusers around the house, especially in the room with the couch, and composure treats for her. If none of these things work, you could try anti-anxiety medication from the vet.

The point is, you still have tons of options. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
