I keep meaning to start exercising, but I never actually do. I'm pretty lazy.

I work in retail though, so I spend a lot of time walking around - when I had a pedometer, I was averaging around 15,000 steps per day (on work days). Occasionally I'll get an extra workout stocking kitty litter or giant bags of dig food.
wow! you do walk a lot on your work days!
and stocking cat litter and giant bags of dog food are definitely good exercise too!

i really like what @Hatchytt posted, taking evening walks. then there's things like taking the stairs instead of elevators/escalators. those are ways i would add some exercise, but still not be exercising by itself.

Far more sedentary than I would like to be.  I'd love to go walk daily, but the big walker with the seat ( long distances) it just too heavy to get up and down the stairway on a daily basis.  I mostly only use it to get to the dumpster and laundry room, because I can carry bags and baskets on the seat as I walk.  If I ever get downstairs, I'll be walking quite frequently.
carrying bags and baskets on the walker's seat as you walk sounds like it would take some extra energy/exercise from you!

I think, in part, it also has to do with the fact that I have another sick kitty to take care of. Although she's very early stage CKD, I worry a lot. I guess because of what happened to Lucky, and how soon this happened after he died. I am trying to get back into going out again occasionally, but definitely don't like getting home late anymore. I will make a few exceptions for it - but very few. As far as things at home, the main thing I've been doing is turning my bedroom into a cat room
I feel so pathetic sometimes.

Yeah, the group workout with trainers is pretty cool. I wasn't sure if I'd like it considering we used to do one-on-one, but I liked it a lot better than I thought. I just need to get the oomph to go again, and getting home at 7:30 on a weeknight feels so late now.
My whole freaking house is a cat room.

I try to exercise, but health issues don't always make it easy. I do yoga on and off (and have done for 10 years or more), and I ride or work with my exmoor mare when I can...and stable chores make for quite good exercise too. I used to walk (with the dogs) a lot as well, but only manage it occasionally now

I used to be a LOT more active when I was younger, and I really miss those days. My body just won't cooperate so well anymore.
yoga is really wonderful!
good exercise as well as good for the mind -- relaxing, stress-reducing. and riding and stable chores certainly are good exercise too!

I'm a slug. Not good but true. I hate sweating. And I'm lazy also.

My "exercise" comes from walking and stair climbing during my weekly commute and walking around grocery stores on weekends.  I didn't enjoy being physically active as a kid either although I was much more active; riding bikes, skating, and just running around.  But, I  don't derive a sense of competition or accomplishment by being physically active.  The few things I used to enjoy when younger have become impossible due to 3 knee surgeries combined with arthritis in various places.

I probably would like something like Pilates - but no classes anywhere near me.  The only one I saw was scheduled in the middle of the afternoon weekdays  - not convenient for those of us  who have full time jobs out of the home.
there can be quite a bit of exercise in walking and stair climbing during commuting!

i don't enjoy sweating either! the longer i've lived here and have taken care of my house and property and been doing all the necessary chores, the more i've grown to just accept that i will sweat and become sweaty/grungy while doing things.
so i always shower after my long busy days of chores -- to get cleaned up, but also to loosen up my tired muscles.

Yes, I'm a bit of an exercise junkie. I get really anxious if I'm not active enough. I do yoga, horse riding, bike riding, hiking, running and walking. These days I mainly walk because there is too much snow around to run or ride.

I'd like to join a gym so I can use the running machines during the winter months, but I'm too heavily tattooed to be accepted by most Japanese gyms.

I used to be a gym rat. I used to go every other day to the gym during or after work.. up until I had thyroid cancer. The stress and recouping days.. I never got the motivation back. been 3 years since.. and I really SHOULD go back to lose the weight I've gained. ugh
i wonder.........i think many/most people are creatures of habit, at least to some extent, or routines. habits/routines can and do change over time, for various reasons, but once we're out of the habit or don't have exercising in our routines...it takes making a change to our habits/routines to start exercising again -- and i think human beings don't generally find change easy.

I was going to the gym 3 times a week until Mia got really sick in December. I've been meaning to start again but I've just been spending lots of time with the kitties. This past week I've had a really bad cold. Hopefully next week I can start again.
i hope you feel better soon!

I've never gone to a gym.  I did have a treadmill years ago but found it so boring and eventually sold it.

These days my exercise is shoveling snow in winter and gardening / mowing the lawn in summer.  Once the weather gets warmer, I want to try to get into the habit of walking every morning.   I'd also like to try yoga.
shoveling snow is really good exercise!
as is gardening and mowing the lawn in summer!

walking in the mornings sounds like a very nice way to start the day!
and it may very well be the most comfortable part of some summer days, when it's hot and humid.

it sounds like you get a really good amount of exercise!

have you considered buying a treadmill -- even a used one? or possibly an exercise bike? it might cost you less than a gym membership, to buy one or both of those...and you'd have them in your home to use during the winter months. then you can do your winter exercising in your home, while others have to go out through the snow and wintery mess to get to the gym!

Yeah and today I got to shovel !!!   Would have preferred to be gardening.
