Today my cat wasn't active as usual. so I pet him and discovered there is a hole under the fur! Why?? What should I do? the vet wasn't open for  the next few days as there is Chinese New Year holiday. The hole is about the size of a pea and showing the red inside. He is a male and 7 months old. I just got him 2 weeks ago. This is my first-time keeping a Persian cat and I am so scared, he seems tired and ate only a little. I am on the verge of tears now, please anyone advice me what should I do???

He really needs to see a vet.  Is there an emergency vet you can take him to?

Is he an outdoor cat or only indoor?

He is an indoor and only cat. Unfortunately, no vets are available in my small town for now. I might need to drive to capital city which is at least 300 km away. For now, I don't know whether I should just leave the hole alone or wrap it with bandages. He is still asleep till now... :(

He really needs to see a vet because he needs treatment for what is probably an infection.  Something may have ruptured.  It's not just about the hole you're seeing.

Can you post a photo?

Having an opened wound, lethargic and lacking appetite makes me VERY concerned that your kitten has an infection going on.

If there is a vet opened in the Capital, I think it would be worth the drive. You do not want this kitten developing sepsis. He very likely needs the wound clean really well and also needs an antibiotic.

It sounds like a superficial wound from your description of it.  How did it get there?  Did anything rupture?  Well, possibly it was a skin pustule that burst?  I don't know.  Whatever it is, it's affecting his energy level and appetite so he does need to be seen by a vet to get it examined and cleaned up.  You didn't mention any bleeding or drainage.  Just that the red inside is showing.

why I cannot upload the photo.... :(
I'm not much help there.  But what I do is when I take a pic with my phone, I connect the phone to my computer and it automatically uploads it on to my computer.  Then from there, I do a search for it.

Also this:

You said you just got him 2 weeks ago?  From where?  A shelter or humane society?  I would call the place where I got him.

Maybe not. something keeps on loading, I will try again. I bought him from  a pet shop, Ginny.  I know I should have just adopt, but he looks so sad, and I cant say no to him...

Finally!! I am taking a leave tomorrow, pack my bags and his essentials, I am going to the nearest vet possible right now. I just hope he can cope with the journey. Right now I will do everything I can.

Please pray for Garfield furry friends, don't give up on us yet...
