Any of you who have reptiles or similar animals might know the story. I have a cricket that is in my Tarantula's cage. She is not eating him, and he, now that the evening is full is chirping like a maniac. This isn't just one of those crickets that chirps every now and then, he literally is chirping nonstop for five to ten minutes at a time. I'm surprised that Precious (my spider) hasn't killed him just out of annoyance (although i'm unsure how well tarantulas hear.

The chirping is driving my cat crazy. They have never taken interest in my spider's aquarium before and now they are circling it constantly. It is driving me crazy as well. I wish I could find it so that I could kill it myself, but I don't know where in the aquarium it went. Nothing is more annoying than a cricket chirping near midnight. I don't know what to do. I am worried my cats may try to take matters into their own paws, which would be dangerous for my tarantula and for them (though she doesn't have a bite poisonous enough to really hurt a cat). Ugh!

[emoji]128513[/emoji] that's a rough one! Only thing I can think of is to shut the cats out of the area where the tarantula's terrarium is; and fish around in there with some very long-handled forceps or tweezers until you get that cricket. [emoji]128576[/emoji]

That bugger was fast. I chased it all around the aquarium for about an hour (no hope of catching it). Finally Precious started stalking it. That made it shut up. I don't know if she finally got him, or if he's just hiding silently, but she has literally moved dirt and changed the layout of the aquarium going after that thing. I sincerely hope that she got him. I was able to go to bed while she was hunting, taking the cats with me.

:cringe: I don't think I'll be able to sleep now with that image in my mind!!! Glad your cricket problem was resolved though. Those buggers are incessant.

I hate crickets. I used to feed her cockroaches, but I hate the way those buggers act also. There's no winning. I am so glad that she ate him as awful as that sounds.
