Yes, I am in the just outside of Boston-north, on the coast.

We had 7 inches of snow this past Friday.

I did have to go out at 2pm for an appointment. It was not all that bad...just outside my street.

I guess I will make up my mind when I get up..

I will fast Artie tonight, just in case...I swear, the more you listen to the weather, the more they scare you...

The south shore of Massachusetts is going to get hit bad. We will have a lot of wind gusts...I saw some estimates for 6-9 inches; about the same as Friday.

They put the higher end in because of a probable intense Band which can come through around 2pm....

sigh....decisions....this happened the last time also...He had to wait until the ned of March for his dental...I am serious..

And I discovered last night that I messed up on his prescription order!! kicking myself in the head!

I will be out of his cisapride on Wednesday! They need a couple days to make it..It is compounded into a capsule for him....It is going to snow every day until Thursday! I would Fed-ex it, but it would not be of any help..I would get it the same day as if I were to pick it up....All I need is some to get me through until I can pick up the full amount...sigh..

my mind is just not there at all.....

It is now after 11:30pm. I have seen the latest weather forecast. The snow amounts have been increased to 6-10 inches. The worst of it will be when I am driving, back and forth.
I made the decision to reschedule the dental.

I really feel Artie needs it because he was only licking the gravy and leaving chunks all day. Sigh

I guess it is for the best. I will take out my small food processor so that I can moosh up his food finer. He did not eat much today. Slept all day and now is asleep on my lap.

Updating this now....it seems they cannot give an exact range of amount.. Seems to depend on which station you listen to; 6-10 inches or 6-9 inches the worst of it during the time I will be picking him up, around 4pm....

I was going to wait until I wake up to decide, but my gut feeling is telling me to stay home with him. I mean, what if I can get out to pick him up, but cannot make it into my street because it is plowed in? What would I do then..a sick cat in the car, no where to go because it is so bad outside--no food for him with me, none of his meds...
so I am leaving his food out tonight, and will reschedule it for another day...hopefully it will not be too long of a wait. My Vet has only one surgical day a week.. a fairly large practice.

I will set my alarm for 7am. The office opens at 8:30am....sigh It is for the best...

We will spend the day cuddling, looking at the snow, having hot chocolate, reading...and possibly napping...late in the day I will go out to see how my car looks...and the street...hopefully, I will not regret this decision...

I totally agree with the rescheduling. At best, Artie would have picked up on your stress; at worst, his surgery might have been performed under less than ideal staffing circumstances. A wait of a day or two, or even a week, certainly won't hurt. But poor Artie. When he IS able to get it done, he will feel sooo much better. (((Hugs)))

Yep they are blowing this way out of proportion. Up here in NH some schools already canceled. And the snow isn't supposed to fly until 3pm-when they get out anyways.

One of my pet peeves is the latest coddling of these kids-in the 80s/90s they sent us to school and no one had issues. I remember only one time they called off school because of an ice storm...of course back then we didn't watch tv all the time..i was standing out there waiting for the bus and neighbor comes out to tell me school canceled..now they cancel for the siliest reasons..oh well. This is New England. It snows. a lot. And the new cars are designed to go better in the snow..ok sorry off my

How is Artie doing this morning?

I don't blame you for rescheduling. Its best to have all the staff there.

My hunni used to live in Wenham on the northshore. He loves going to the beach in Beverly. He always comes home with big pieces of seaglass. He just recently sold the house and will be living up here wish me. I think that part of the state is so pretty. I only had experience in Boston and other cities. I didn't realize how much farm land is still around if you look for it. Love the rolling hills and pretty countryside in Topsfield/Wenham etc area.

We so far one station says 3-6 inches and another says 6+. The only good thing is the temp is dropping so that means it will be light and fluffy and easier to move-I don't like heavy wet snow. This morning on the way to work it was 21 degrees. Hopefully it blows out to sea n doesn't dump too much on us but I agree with you about the news. They get everyone worked up for nothing. I still think its a marketing gimic to get more money spent at stores...fear sells sadly.

Not blowing it out of proportion down my way. :lol3: The snow is blowing sideways and I'm just waiting to lose power from the wind. :lol3: It's bad. You are supposed to be getting less snow than me though.

I really do think rescheduling was the best decision . I hope you can get an appointment soon. :cross:

yes, 9am and still no snow!

Windy, but no snow!

Artie does not know what is going on..his entire routine is messed up!!

He wanted to play at 1AM!!   He was running around wild! needless to say, I am exhausted.

Oh, Wait... it is now 9:04Am and I see snow!  It has started, so I do not feel so bad.

His dental is now scheduled for the 22nd... he did eat all the food I left out last night..so he is just preferring the gravy. He can still eat the food...may not be without pain, but he is eating it...

Oh----Karen,

Please be careful!! Yes, I see the snow now.. it is very windy out there...so I guess I feel better about rescheduling it...

sorry, I vent a lot--and have a hard time making decisions...especially major ones...

stay safe...have flashlights, batteries, warm clothes, battery powered radio, etc...

Thanks!

My husband works in Hopkinton, which is an hour commute and he stayed home today, which is good. I'm charging up everything right now.

Abby had a dental on Wednesday and they extracted her two upper front canines (fangs). She's doing great! I'm sure Artie will do well with the surgery.

no problem venting-that's what we are here for

I think inside we all struggle with making decisions. Some people hide it better.

So far its not doing a whole heck of a lot. Im in Portsmouth right now. Live in Farmington. And I work day shift so by the time I get out of work at 3:30 will not be fun BUT as long as the air stays cold=it wont be bad driving. Sometimes when precipitation starts the temperature rises so I am hoping that it wont. Because nothing worse the heavy wet snow snapping trees and lines.

I hope you guys down in Boston area don't get it too hard-the radar to me looks like it will blow out to sea. Hopefully the winds will blow it on by and miss you guys. I prefer snow up here-its so ugly with no leaves and muddy ground and I don't like shoveling. Last winter we had that blizzard remember? I remember Honeybee my cat sitting at the window watching fascinated as the winds and snow blew sideways. The air was cold so we didn't have too many lost power issues...

Hope all don't have too many headaches!

I'm glad that you've already rescheduled and you two are safe and sound today!

Happy to hear that Artie ate his food during the night. I know what you mean about their schedules getting thrown off, they are just like children :D !

:hugs: to you both

Thanks everyone...

you know, I really do not mind people telling me how they feel about stuff..

That is why I am a member here; everyone is so caring...I hope you do not feel as if I am taking advantage of you or this forum.

Well, it is still snowing. Does not look bad, to me. I think the last storm was worse.

It seems to be very fine snow and not the heavy stuff; but from where my apartment is located, I cannot have a view of the highway directly, or where the other homes are. I just have pine trees and some shots of neighbors back yards, and the street behind me. Lots of trees over here. It is the quiet side of the building.

Not many cars on the road. It is windy. The tress are moving in the wind. My balcony has sone on it, but not much--maybe an inch or two.

The city did close off part of the beach because of flooding. I saw some pictures of a street which is really underwater..

I may need to take a walk around the building to check things out.

Yes, I am glad I re-scheduled the appointment. I do not need to stress myself out further or to stress Artie out even more..who knows how he would react if my car went into a small skid...He hates sudden movements while he is in his carrier..or the extending driving time to the Vet.

Thanks again everyone for help and support with my poor decision making..

So funny, I can easily make decisions for others, but not for myself....

sigh..

Of course you are not taking advantage of the forum!   It actually helps me to see other people struggle with these decisions and to know I am not alone in worrying about such things.  Driving in snow can be hazardous - you absolutely made the right choice.  And even if you'd cancelled and not a snowflake fell from the sky, you would still be in good company.  I remember one year when I lived outside Washington DC and a huge storm was predicted.  All the schools were canceled, some local and state governments closed, supermarkets were cleaned out and the federal government was put on a three hour delay.  The sand and salt trucks were all lined up and ready to go.  The result?  No snow whatsoever.
I shouldn't laugh, it was a terrible waste of resources, but there was something funny about it.  Anyway, in your case it actually did snow, confirming that there was nothing at all wrong with your decision making!

Vent all you want/need.  Those of us who haven't vented on here, will at some point.  And you problems will become learning experiences for those who haven't been through it yet!

Our weather was wild last night.  Hard rain with intermittent sleet and high winds.  Thought a couple of the pine trees were going to come down, but they survived.  SIGH.  I'd really like a few flakes.

Yeah, as of now it is a fizz out...not bad at all...only about 2 inches out there..they cancelled so many things because of the forecast....now they are saying MAYBE another 1-3 inches over night.........well add the maximum predicted of 3 to the current 2 inches and you get a total of 5  Inches!!

A far cry from the 6-9 inches or 5-10 inches which were predicted....We seem to be on the low end...we are usually on the high end.

I think after last year, they widened the area of prediction, thus making it easier for them to forecast for a larger area, instead of breaking up the weather map to more precise measurements....sigh..

We are getting bitter cold weather this week end ...who knows?????

kind of upset that all this commotion was made about 2 inches of snow!! and it cancelled a lot of things...

The next storm, I can tell you, no one is going to believe these guys...no matter what they say; people will laugh and ignore them...I know weather is unpredictable, but this seems to have been a fiasco for them...at least from my opinion..too many things were cancelled..school, businesses, etc...yup---the rush hour is not a rush hour....they scared everyone...sigh

I hate the weather forcasts. They seem to blow things out of proportion. At least Artie doesn't have too wait to long to have his dental.

Thank you... yes, I am planning on getting a nap in on Sunday so I will be ready...

He will be coming home to a clean litter box!! I plan to dump, wash the box and the bathroom it is in. It will keep me busy, and close to the phone...

I was supposed to go in for training with the Humane Society, but I think I will postpone it again...for another week...

Sorry I posted, but I knew the people who have gotten to know me, would understand my anxiety... and I do have anxiety...

The worst part will be Monday morning--he will be starving.. Instead of waking me at 7am....he will be tap-tapping my shoulder at 2am!!!

(hugs)
I've only just found this thread. I felt so bad for you and artie and so relieved that you cancelled the appointment. Poor artie with his poor teeth. I was lucky. None of my cats had any teeth out. Towards the end of lotto's life he had such stinky breath but was too old to operate. So I kissed him stinky breath and all.
If you're blending his food, is he eating better?
Hugs and kisses to both of you.
