Here in Georgia, some of us have been experiencing some bad winter weather. Over night last night and throughout the day today, it has been raining. Problem is - the temperature has been in the teens and twenties. When we woke up this morning, there was ice EVERYWHERE. Everything was white and drooping heavy with ice and icicles. Our car doors were even froze shut. That's not the strange thing. The strange thing is that it was also thundering and lightning at the same time! During an ice storm it was also coming a thunderstorm. How odd is that? My father said that in his 65 years, he has never seen that happen before.

By the way, the ice storm is still not over. We are under an ice storm warning until sometime tomorrow morning. It will most likely be worse tomorrow morning than it was this morning. I'm hoping there won't be any thunder involved. That's was just too weird. And, in case you were wondering, all of my cats are inside. They have been cuddled in laps and blankets in the house since it all started. They ain't crazy - it's COLD out there!

I have seen weather like that here in Minnesota a couple of times, and it's really freaky. I remember one January quite a few years ago when there was thunder and lightening while it was snowing. They called it "thundersnow."

BTW, we get ice storms up here too, I always get soooo nervous when I have to go to work in the morning and there's ice everywhere!!!

Movin' on up!
Due to the cold, rainy weather, I had ice on my car, this morning. It was 38, when I left for work, at about 8:15. Its bad enough, that California is shipping their weirdos and wackos to AZ, NOW they're sending their Pacific storms, too!

You think that's odd? Try living in KY. Saturday night and Sunday morning untill noon we were under a winter storm warning and had ice. Then today (monday) it was in the 50's sunny and pretty. Tonight it's pouring down and 34 as I type this and we're susposed to get atleast an inch of snow by tommorow afternoon....go figure!

We had a snow and ice storm about 3 weeks ago. We first got about 7" of snow, then it turned to freezing rain and we had a couple of inches of ice on top of the snow. That night there were limbs and trees crashing down all night and all the next day. It was so loud since we have forest behind us. Then as it started thawing, ice was falling everywhere making more noise. We're still cleaning up after it.
They talked about the possibility of thunderstorms one night, but it never happened.

22 degrees right now but this afternoon it was rainy. Now there is some sort of ice fog in the backyard. I just went out to check on the horses. Great, we will have iced mud tomorrow, and I can do a mudslide all the way to the barn!

Amber, that sounds a lot like MN weather, it's always weird, and it depends on which direction the wind is coming from or something. There's nothing quite like the feeling that you have just experienced all four seasons in one week.

Hi Everyone! I've never posted before but I've been around here reading for a little bit now. I'm a little shy.
Anyway I just wanted to add that we're getting some pretty bad winter weather here too. Well, just a bunch of snow. Places around here have called snow days and I'm one of three people left at work right now since I take the subway instead of drive. I'm not sure how much snow we've gotten exactly but it's been a LOT! The power has even gone out in some places. I've heard that some workplaces have sent employees home (like mine but you have to have driven to work or have a long commute which is not me
) I'm so bored right now since no one's around that I figured this would be a good time to make my debut!

By the way my name is Trish and I have two furbabies: Sparta and Ares. Sparta's about nine months and Ares is four months. They're my little sweetie pies!

We might actually get snow this week

The newspapers have been warning us of a cold snap that was supposed to start yesterday, where my fiance works got a bit of snow today and it's only 20 mins away by car.

I wish it would snow here. It hardly ever snows around here. The last good snow we got was a blizzard about 10 years ago. I've always dreamed of a white Christmas, but I probably won't ever see one. All we ever get is ice and rain.

I'm sure it's much colder there though. It's so weird this is happening lately. It is neat to go through the seasons, although I do wish the weather would make up it's mind..I got too many clothes boxes lying around!
