My 9 year old cat had surgery for an intestine tumor on Thursday and ate a little when he was back the same day, then ate a lil bit more on friday morning, but now he doesnt wanna eat nor drink and just goes off to sleep in the closet. His incision appears to be healing good, his eyes have been pretty dilated since, i am just so worried and want to know if this is normal and if not what should i do at home to make him feel better? He even declined his favorite canned food and treats /:

He definitely needs to eat. Try warming up his favorite food so it smells extra strong and appealing. Or tuna in water can do in a pinch.

If he doesn't start eating soon you may want to start assisted feeding or use a needleless syringe.

Is he on any medication? sometimes antibiotics mess up their tummies. He will need to eat soon, is he a heavy i.e. chubby cat? if so, the urgency in getting food in him will increase.  When Midi was not well I bought every type of Friskies they had, not sure what they put in that but it is like crack to many cats. you can also try liver (chicken or beef) as a short-term fix, they will need a more balanced diet but it might kick start his appetite.

Thank you for your replies. Yes, he is on Buprenex twice a day, but after reading the side effects today, i only want to give him one but not sure.. I buy that brand also: Friskies, mostly "Beef with gravy", hes a sucker for that, but he even declined it.  Ill try warming it up. He is a white and black part maine coon cat, so yeah he has usually been chubby hence my concern /: . I will try your advices, thank you

ok, i tried warming his food up and didnt work, he still wont eat nor drink by himself so i gave him water through a syringe (found him drooling this morning) and i fed him last night by putting lil chunks in his mouth, hard task. Today i see him kind of swollen, but im not sure if my eyes are fooling me. At this point, i want to take him for a check up, something i cant do until tuesday, because im worried and need them to either tell me whats up or if im worrying for nothing

Drooling is a sign of nausea.  Did they give you any anti-nausea meds?  At this point he really needs them, and probably an appetite stimulant and high calorie paste.  Keep getting him to eat and drink as much as you can.  Anything you can get him to eat counts in terms of calories at this point.

No, they didnt give him any nausea meds, just pain medication. I gave him water again today and lil chunks of his favorite food. Dont know what im gonna do next but will definitely discuss with my husband about going for a checkup and try to get what you suggested. There are still two weeks until he supposedly fully recovers, im hoping somewhere along the way he starts to come back to us as the awesome kitty he was. Seems hes so sensitive to noises and doesnt wanna be around anybody right now..

Keep an eye on his incision and check for any redness or swelling around the site, and feel if it's hot or tender to the touch. My cat Jack had intestinal surgery to remove a cancerous mass last year and he didn't act right after he came home. He hid and didn't eat much for days but otherwise his incision looked OK. Then several days after his surgery I noticed a swelling next to the incision and he flinched when I touched the spot. I took him straight to the emergency vet. He had an infection and he had to go back in for another surgery to remove necrotic tissue. He recovered but it was touch and go for a few days (sadly he succumbed to the cancer which had returned earlier this month).

I don't want to scare you (too late, maybe?!) but I would have him checked out just to make sure. Even if it isn't an infection maybe they can suggest some other things to get him to eat or if he's in pain maybe some other medication. Give your sweet boy some scritchies for me and I hope he feels better soon.
