Hello, it's Saturday already!

Last week I asked what kind of super power you would like to have and a lot of people said they would like the power to be able to communicate with animals. I can see how that would be interesting. I'm pretty sure the only thing some of my cats say to me is "Laura! NOW!", but maybe a few of the others would be more chatty.

So, if you had the power to talk to animals what would you ask your cats? If you have other pets what would you talk to them about?

I know what I'd ask. I want to know where they go when they take off for a few days. We've got an enclosure with a cat proof fence for them, but a few have managed to get out before. So where do those kitties go when they're not here?

Wow.. I don't know where I'd start!!

Probably the first thing I'd ask them is why they don't like each other very much.. I'd love to sort that one out

Also why they refuse to eat the food that last week was flavour of the month??

And then I'd start getting philosophical ...  Do they believe in free will?.. Are they meditating or just spaced out?... that kind of thing.

I'd ask Asha exactly what happened that led to her living in her rat infested cellar where I found her. I think we'd talk a lot, as she's the most vocal cat I've ever known. I'd ask Shadow how he feels about living with Asha, and why he won't groom/wrestle with her...she's always begging him to

I'd ask them both which food they fancied at mealtimes too - Shad in particular is REALLY fussy, and it would be so much easier to know what he's in the mood for at each meal :lol3:

I'd ask Leah why she takes against dogs she's never even met, and why she can't be more pleasant to visitors. I'd ask Pixie how he's really feeling and what I could do to help him. I'd love to know about his past life (pre adoption) too.

As for Collie...where would I start  So many questions about her behaviour, whether she's happy with me and enjoying what we do together. I'd also ask her why she gets scared so easily....and to please stop throwing me so often :lol3:

I would ask the kids if they're happy here. I'd really like to know if we're doing what we can to keep them happy and healthy.

I would ask Mollipop and Muffin if they're ever going to get over themselves and try to deal with the situation. Nobody's going anywhere, so can they just try to get along?

I would ask Jackie if she's OK. She went through a lot last year and we're trying so hard to make sure she has a lot of love and a lot of attention. I'd really like to know that she feels comfortable with us, that she's happy here and if she's OK living with the cats.

Psycho just showed up at our house one day in 2008. He has been indoor only since 2009. I would ask him where he came from, is he happy with his life with us and why does he like Daddy more than Mommy LOL

I would ask Midi how he was feeling, if he was sick or feeling pain and what I could do to make him happy. I would then tell him what a beautiful boy he is and how much I love him

I would ask Artie if he was happy living with me. I would also ask him if he was in any type of pain at all.

As Columbine stated, Artie and I would have lots of conversations about things. We do talk a lot.

I would also ask him to be a bit more cuddly with me...and not to nip and bite..

I am sure I would get a lot of complaining from him, because he sasses me all the time!

If I could talk to animals, Ruby would probably end up asking me to give her a break and please stop asking questions!

However, these are the main questions I'd love to have answered:

Are you happy here?

Would you like a kitty sibling?

How did you end up at the shelter?

Did you ever have kittens?

I ask my cats questions all the time.  I already have that power.  I just wish they could answer!

Mostly I'd love to know what Eclipse sees when he sits on top of the fences and walls in our yard when I take him out.  I'm too short to see over the top.

This is a very interesting question.  The first question I would ask of Autumn is, how do you feel, are you in any pain. Are you happy living with me and finally, do you love me as much as I love you.

I definitely would want to ask (especially the older ones) how they are feeling, how is their quality of life, etc. I'd ask what kinds of foods they like best (flavors, textures, etc). And are they happy here, and do they feel I've done right by them. I'd also ask Sara what life was like before she came to live with us, because she's the only one we have where there are years of her life that are still a mystery to us.

With Oscar, I'd ask him what he's always saying to me when we having our conversations. And with Oliver, I'd ask him why he gets so scared all the time. And as for Miss Pea-Pea, I'd ask what the heck is she saying all the time because she's constantly yowling, as if she's in heat (but I can guarantee she's not! lol).

Reading these comments, it is very striking that many of us would ask our buddies if they are happy living with us and i they were in any pain. These are the first questions posted....so very common.

I think it shows that we are all kind, caring people...and love our cats deeply.

My girls seem happy living here, but I'd ask just to make sure.
Then I'd ask if Ruby missed Jasper and it Onyx missses her mama, if they'd like me to take them outside more, and why goofy little Onyx only seems to recognize kibble as food. :lol3:
And I'd ask what I can do better. I'm sure there are things I do that they only tolerate.

I would love to communicate with the cats.

Floey=my oldest-where she came from-the story the shelter gave me is a police officer picked her up as she was hanging around a road in Manchester NH. And why she is petrified of dogs. And where she got her scars from...scars on her back like something scratched the crap out of her=probably a dog

Pumpkin face=Why she seems unhappy lately and why Honeybee chases her.

Honeybee=Where did you come from? What happened? She is the most cuddly kitty but jealous. I want to know if she too is happy. And why she wont eat the wet food that she happily slurped up three years ago when I plucked her out of an abandoned house? And now she only touches kibble despite me cutting back.

And of course if they are happy. And tell me where they go when they used to go outside prior to living with me. Pumpkin face used to roam daily. And she NEVER ate cat food. She was strictly living on her mice etc. Until three years ago when Honeybee came to us-now she doesn't roam which I am glad but she doesn't seem as happy anymore. I would love to know what they are thinking

When I was little (6 yrs old) I got a horse. We spent 13 years together, which covered my childhood, adolescence and puberty, and my entire teenage years. I told him literally everything! We had no secrets and if that horse could talk, I would STILL be grounded!

Beyond the obvious questions regarding health and how they are feeling, there are myriad questions I would ask and say to them. Knowing my cats and their personalities, my concern would be how I would react to the answers I got! LOL

These are some of the questions I hear myself asking every day:

1. Why do you do that only when you think I'm not looking?
2. What are you doing under there?
3. Why do you feel compelled to sit on my face?
4. How did THAT happen?
5. OK, which one of you did THIS?
6. Where did you get that?
7. Do you KNOW what time it is?
8. What possessed you to do something like that?
9. Who's your Momma?
10. Why do you HAVE to walk between my feet everywhere I go?
11. Why do you have to escort me to the bathroom?
12. Did you just puke?
13. What in the hell did you eat that made THAT happen?
14. Did you forget to cover your poop?
15. Why do you have to sling litter everywhere?
16. Do you REALLY think China is under your litter box?
17. Do you think I am stupid?
18. Do you honestly think that was funny?
19. Why are you up there again?
20. Would you want ME to do that to YOU?
21. Where did you hide it?
22. Who peed in the bathtub again?
23. Will you please not lay on my book while I'm reading?
24. Do you have something 'stuck' again?
25. Did you unplug the lamp behind the couch again?
26. Why do you keep eating my computer mouse?
27. Will you Boys just play nice?
28. How many times do I have to say STOP!?
29. Will you please stop licking my eyebrows?
30. Why did you DO that?

Things I say:

1. Stop!
2. Play nice!
3. Get down!
4. Get out of there!
5. No!
6. Stop biting!
6. You better eat that!
7. Get OFF the window screen!
8. Move over!
9. Don't even think about it!
10. Bring it to Momma.
11. Go away!
12. Come here!
13. Good Boy!
14. You're SO ornery!
15. Let's go to bed.
16. Hold still!
17. Be careful!
18. Stop running!
19. Oh, for crap sake!
20. No, you didn't!
21. Go find it.
22. Guess what Momma's got!
23. Lay by me.
24. Don't eat that bug!
25. Don't do that again!
26. C'mon! Let's play!
27. Don't spill that!
28. Let me clip your nails!
29. You're so beautiful!
30. Your Momma loves you guys SO much!

Things I would like to know from their perspective:

1. What do you see?
2. Does that feel good?
3. What do you want to do?
4. What am I to you?
5. Would you rather be 'free'?
6. What are you thinking?
7. What do you dream about?
8. What are you feeling? (physically & emotionally)
9. What would make you more happy than you already are?
10. Do you understand my love for you?

11. What do you mean when you do that?

Oh, I could go on and on!

Should we expect them to learn our language or should we be obliged to learn theirs? Or should it be a two-way street?

"Do you genuinely love me? Am I a good   slave  mommy  cat owner???? Do you know that I absolutely adore you and that you are my babies???????? *Wailsbows*
"

Ummm, but more dignified than that, of course
 Well, hopefully....

Then of course the usual questions, how to do you see? Do you see colours? Do you see very well? Do you see me as a person, or just a tall weird looking cat? What foods do you really like? Do you know or understand the difference between a human trying to hurt you, and one trying to help you? (Like when having to go to the vet) and etc. And to Morgana, ask what it is like being a deaf cat, is it noticeable/feel different,  or feel normal and not realize otherwise?

And etc.

And of course have all the usual, chatty and dorky conversations on the side
