Hi, my 6 month old kitten has just had an operation on his stomach to remove a blockage, he is now home and after a long sleep he is trying to get up and jump onto the sofa etc and trying to lick his wound, i have his collar here and a crate for him but if i lock him in he freaks out and im scared hes going to hurt himself or damage the wound? The cone is also making him struggle and roll about and i just dont know what to do, im beside myself with worry, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard some people have more success with putting their cat in a baby onesie than with an e-collar. It protects the surgical site but it's not so restricting. If he's more physical inside the crate than out of it, than it might be better to just leave him out, but keep excitement to a minimum as much as possible. Hopefully he will listen to his body and not push himself past his limits, but just keep an eye on the surgical site and if anything looks abnormal you can give the vet a call. I'm glad your little guy's okay!
