Hi.. Does anyone know of a dry food that does not promote urine crystles? My boy has been on science diet cd since he had a blockage about a year ago but I really want to get him off because of all the negative things I am hearing about prescription foods. He also eats I Love You canned but I'm not sure about their dry food.

How much dry food do you feed? A small amount is ok as long as you also feed canned food with extra water added. Urinary issues can happen with any dry food so it's hard to recommend a particular brand. Instead of the C/D, try a good quality grain-free brand. Keeping the cat well hydrated is key to preventing most urinary issues. Some cats will always have the occasional urinary issue no matter what kind of food is fed.

IMO cats that are prone to urinary issues should be on as much wet food as possible and kibble as only a snack.
