First, sorry for my English, I'm Spanish and there are some technic words that I don't know.

We have an almost 7 years old male, neutered, and very sensible to stress (he can stress over a sneeze). Anyways, we're both behaviourist so the behaviour part is covered. He also has taken and keeps taking Bach flowers, we've been to too maaaaany vets. Right now we're working with an homeopatic vet.

The thing is that his condition it's going looong in time. Too long. in 2014 he blocked around... 4 times, right now i know a lot about this, but at that time knew nothing.

He was sondated (don't know if it's called that way) all of the times.

We put him the collar, and he managed to lick his penis, the problem is that in one of those times he injured the outside area, and it's not how it's suppoes to be.

The first ve we wetn did something reaaly wrong and since then he peeis differently.

The thing is, that he has idiopatic cistitis, not blocked in over a year. He peeis a lot but he always peeis.

He on wet food, never again dry food for cats at home. The problem is that he has the ouside part of the penis (not the penis, the part that you can see outside) swore, irritated, inflamated... all together. Plus he's a bit constipated, we give things for this last thing.

But, since it hurts he licks, so it gets worse.

We're making a soft collar for him, because with the normal he gets so stressed plus he manage to lick himself injuring the area even more.

The other vets told us the only solution was surgery, to cut his penis, but his penis is fine, is this area. Plus we know he won't come out from the surgery and all the after surgery recovery time.

Any thoughts on this?

Hi. So sorry to hear about your kitty! Has your cat been given an NSAID (Meloxicam or Onsior) to see if this helps with the inflammation? Is he on any pain medication?

Hi. So sorry to hear about your kitty! I'be asked an MOD to move your question to a new thread, so hopefully you can get more answers.

Has your cat been given an NSAID (Meloxicam or Onsior) to see if this helps with the inflammation? Is he on any pain medication?
Hi!

Thanks a lot. Yes, he has taken meloxicam. he really has taken everything there's aout there.

He's right now on pain medication, don't know the name in english.

The homeopathy is also for the pain, for the inflammation and for his condition. The vet is searching and digging to find more solutions. She even asked her former teachers, and she was at a convention doing a seminar (she was giving it, not that she'es a student) and they're even studying the case, not finding a solution...

We're also gonna try ortomolecullar medicine (or nutrition...)

but i though thet has to be someone else aout there with the same problem, our cat can't be the only one in the world, so i thought in an english spoken forums and sites i could find more info.

Thanks a lot!

First thing is for him to not lick his penis, it is very sensitive area and licking will continue to cause irritation and inflammation, but the collar is stressful, you don't want to add any more stress of course.

I would make a skirt. Like a collar but instead of around his neck it goes around his chest, so he is still able to pee but not lick.

I had to make one for a feral cat who had surgery on her lower tummy and was chewing and tearing her stitches out.

It worked perfectly.

A good fabric to use is felt. Soft and flexible but not so much that it will pull up allowing him access to lick.

Make sure it is long enough too.

Wet food should be the type that is created specifically for crystals/uti issues.

Yes, never dry food for this kitty.

He should be on an anti-inflammatory and possibly antibiotics.
Code:

Thanks for the asnwer. I'm really interested in the tee thing. So, yo fill it with something soft, and it's like a... rubber ring but with soft fabric? We tried to do that for his neck but he can easily scape from that, but we haven't try it that way!

He has no crystals, so giving him wet food for this condition will onlu cause him more trouble (we've been there)

he's also been in antibiotics and antiinflamatory, and nothing has worked properly. the licking part is what we find harder. There's a cat door that he won't be able to go trhough if we put the collar_tee or a collar, which will cause him more stress... yeah, i know, it's stressful all the time.

Anyway, we're going to try with some ortomolecular medicine now, and with schuler salt (i think it's written that way, not sure if in english is also that way)

Thanks a lot for your help!!! I will keep you updated if we see any changes!

Go to this site and look at the pictures.

https://www.tulanescloset.com/tuis-friends

These are a bit expensive, but you will see the idea here.

Then go to any store that sells baby clothes, and find a "onesie" for a newborn baby.

You will cut a hole for the tail, and when he needs to pee just unsnap it but be sure to snap it closed again right after.

This might be the solution for him.
