Hello hello! Welcome to the first Tuesday of February!

Favourite Alcoholic Beverage? Least favourite?

And if you feel like adding, have any favourite meal pairings with said beverage(s)?

Favourites are home made cocktails, ciders (Apple, pear, strawberry etc) sparkling wine, Gingerbeer, and red wine.

The first four tend to vary between a wide range of foods, but with red wine, I love it with some quality chocolate

As for least favourite, I don't care for regular beer, funny enough!  And not interested in coolers. I can enjoy white wine, but I'm much more pickier and often not a lover -  I do like Riesling however.

Cream based liqueurs can be OK, depending. I like Kahlua and Godiva, but forever ruined with Bailey's after an unfortunate timing of bad stomach flu last time I had it. I was feeling a little off all day prior, but thought one glass would be fine (Smart, I know, but it was a special occasion at the time...) and lo' and behold. Started throwing up couple hours later, and the poor Bailey's was the one that came out for the first couple of instances. The flu itself lasted two days, and ugh, bad memories of horrible...you know. I can't taste a Bailey's anymore! Just nailed into my head and taste buds.

Other brands I actually have yet to try.

But anyway!

I like gin (Tanqueray) and tonic and some white wines.

I don't like red wines because they give me horrible migraines.  I also don't like martinis.

About the only alcohol I drink anymore is actually a cocktail.  I like a Margarita with Tex-Mex food.

I used to like Jack Daniels but it has been a number of years since I had it.

My least favorite is Jaegermeister.  I remember when I was stationed in Germany a lot of people would get small bottles of it at the city bus kiosks and drink it early in the morning.  It's supposed to have a medicinal quality to it and I think it does taste like medicine.

Gin and tonic with a splash of angostura bitters.  I've recently started making my own herbal bitters at home--first batch was standard 'house' bitters.  Next I'm going to try making grapefruit bitters.

My favorite liquor is Southern Comfort, and the least favorite is scotch of any kind. I like the Southern Comfort over ice with a splash of ginger ale. After gardening in the summer, I enjoy a beer when I come in hot and tired.

I try to keep it simple.

I will drink beer, wine, and some mixed drinks.

I don't really have a favorite because it all depends on the mood I'm in.

I don't like whiskey and soda's.

In my younger years I was a Scotch and Water drinker, have since lost the taste for it.  I drink both white and red wines, like a lot of the mixed drinks such as Gin and Tonic in the summer and Screwdrivers at any time. Also like beer in the heat of summer.

I do not like Virgin Mary's, the one mixed with tomato juice.

I love me a good margarita made with Cuervo 1800, Grand Marnier and Simply limeade. On the rocks with plenty of salt.
 That's my #1

I like red wine and white zinfandel.

No beer. They all taste the same and they all taste terrible. Nothing with cream in it and NO Southern Comfort. I had a very bad experience with it a long time ago and can't even handle the smell of it anymore.

I'm not a fan of gin. Vodka and lemonade is nice on a hot day.

Hmmm... Absolute favorite is probably absinthe. It's delicious! A sugar cube and a shot of cold water is all it needs. Least favorite is Mad Dog 2020. They're all different levels of disgusting.

I think I love you.

You had me at the margarita. Seriously good stuff. I had one on Saturday (with all of the above, BTW) and thought I'd died and went to heaven. I thought about having another one, too, but decided against it.

No beer at all for me; I simply don't understand the fascination with that stuff. No gin. Definitely no rum; I can't stand the smell of the stuff. I can't even eat a piece of Black Bottom Pie if it has rum flavoring. You will never, ever find rum flavoring in my kitchen. EVER (Bad experience a long time ago -- Bacardi's 151, pretty much drank an entire bottle by myself and I got sick, really, really, sick, to the point where my sister thought I was dead -- and I can't touch it. I will gag from simply smelling it and I'd probably puke.)

The only bourbon I can deal with is on my wings. The wing sauce for Louisville Wings is made with bourbon.

I prefer white wine. I like red, but I can get a nasty headache from it. My favorite is probably a good blush.

I do like a Smirnoff Ice every so often. Over lots of chipped ice.

And I'd gladly take a vodka and lemonade. I can do a good vodka slush, too.

Right back at ya!!

Aren't those good? The first time I made margaritas like that was last year on DD's birthday. I bought the tequila and Grand Marnier (my favorite alcoholic beverage of all time) and decided to use the Simply Limeade because it was so convenient. It came out so perfectly that I'll never make them any other way. Her 21st birthday is coming up in March
. She wants white russians (I am trying to talk her out of these) but there will be a margarita in my hand for sure.

I hardly ever drink. I don't like whiskey or vodka or gin. . .mostly just rum. I like mojitos and pretty much any creamy drink like a mudslide.

I hate beer, any beer, ick eww yuck. Not really fond of most wines either but a sweet wine is OK.

I rarely drink - migraines here also.  Just not worth it.

However, having said that...I really love good red zinfandel wines but again, they don't like me.

I also enjoy various types of beer - so far no migraines noted on that!  I prefer darker ones like Guiness.

Not too big on mixed drinks because many contain a lot of sugars and that makes me feel like garbage also.  I prefer things which are savory; so a really well made Bloody Mary would be my kind of cocktail.

I very rarely drink at home, but definitely when I go out. I've kinda become a "lightweight" again since Lucky died because I so rarely go out anymore (I used to go out at least once a week, usually twice).

Favorites, I would say beer. And my favorite beer type is the white IPA. Yum! I decided to go all out for my 37th birthday a couple years back (just because) and I had two hours of free beer. It was as crazy as it sounds. But I had one called Chainbreaker. OMG, so yummy! I also like one called Matilda, which is brewed here in my hometown of Chicago (it's by Goose Island). It tastes like flowers :D And I'm quite a beer snob, mainly because most cheap beers give me horrible hangovers after a mere one or two beers. Think, PBR. Blech.

If I had to pick a non-beer favorite, I think it depends on my mood :lol3: I tend to go salty, but sometimes like sweet. Overall though, I really like the michelada. It's kinda like a Bloody Mary, but has beer in it instead of vodka. There's other differences too, just not sure what they all are. But I do like a well-made Bloody Mary also. Emphasis on the "well made" part.

Least favorite... golly, not sure I have a least favorite that I'm aware of. I guess red wine. I like moscato-type wines, so yeah, not a big red wine fan. But I will occasionally have a few sips if it's being served at a big gathering (like the occasional work-sponsored outing).

I am not much of a drinker, but I totally love a Chocolate Martini (or 7 or 8! LOL) I've learned to put my own twist on them using various chocolate liqueurs. Putting it all in a blender and adding different flavored ice creams makes for a good "milk shake".  As well as adding different flavored vodkas - Caramel, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Wild Honey, Whipped Cream and, of course, Chocolate. I also enjoy a nice cuppa coffee with a creamy liqueur in it.

Other than that, I prefer a fruity, girlie, foo-foo drink where I can't taste the alcohol. One that is quick and easy and tastes really good is Mt. Dew Code Red with Cherry Vodka!  I like to experiment with what I have on hand and come up with my own concoctions.

I'm definitely NOT a beer drinker, I don't care for dark liquors, and I only use wine when I am cooking.

I rarely drink due to my antidepressant ( it doesn't mix with alcohol) according to my doctor. I was bad the other week and had a Not Your Daddy's Rootbeer with my dinner. It was delicious but gave me a horrible headache probably the mix of medicine and alcohol. My doctor says it's dangerous so I try to refrain.

I am not a drinker. Once in awhile though a friend gives me a bottle of sweet red wine that he makes himself. It stays in the refrigerator a long time, but I might sip along on that. I do use red and white wines to cook with.

I have never used Grand Marnier to make margaritas, I have always used Cointreau.  I bet the Grand Marnier would be good.  I know bars and restaurants, at least other than fine dining restaurants, use a cheaper triple sec.
