Do you use deal sites like Groupon, Living Social, etc?

We've used them before for restaurants. Some of the places have turned out to be clunkers, but we've also found some good new places by using them.

I've never used them for hotels, etc. I did just almost book a room through Groupon, but one of the nights was grayed out and I couldn't. I ended up going through the hotel's site instead and ended up with the same price because of deal they were running online.

I used Groupon to get my initial Sam's membership. It was $40.00 and I got a $20.00 gift card plus coupons for free products that were worth more than $20.00 so it ended up being less than free.

That's what we did, too. But we found out that we didn't use the Sam's membership enough and when it came time to renew, we just let it lapse. I think we were only there twice the whole year and the first time was so that we could use the coupons that we got from joining.

We've checked Groupon since then. Most of their deals seem to be from places that are about 60 miles away from us and, while it's not an overly long trip, we just don't get to that city that often anymore.

I ended up using mine to get a 5 cubic foot chest freezer for DD's room at school. it was cheaper than at Wal Mart and with money I made doing surveys online and my gift card, it ended up costing me nothing out of pocket.

I told DD that the freezer is MINE when she's done with school. She can have the mini fridge I bought her freshman year.

I have occasionally used both to purchase tickets to live music events, beer festivals, etc. I still remember the beer/cheese festival we went to on the spur of the moment with that. It was hotter than Hades out that day with no shade, so all the cheese was practically melting, and the beer wasn't nearly cold enough. Ah well, we had fun anyway. Ran into a friend we knew, that friend checked us all in on Facebook, then another friend of ours saw it and showed up. We all went to a nice and air conditioned casino for dinner after that, lost $20 at the slot machines, then went back to that last friend's house and sat around a fire pit for an hour in the cool of the night.

AWESOME. All because of whatever deal site we used. :beerpals:

We use groupon. I bought an activity tracker last week, just waiting to receive it now. My husband buys deals for oil changes on there too and we bought a night out bowling once.

I do find myself buying less of them. I haven't been as impressed with some of the deals lately and when I do get some, it is taking me longer to use them.
