So Chewie is on Revolution for cats, and we pay for it monthly via the Optimum Wellness Program, and we were talking about getting Lilly-Belle on it as well, but I don't know if we can afford to pay that much monthly, so I was just wondering if anyone knew about Flea/Worm Medicines having generic equivalents, like people medicine. I'm not trying to be cheap, because we do make sure to get good food and supplies, I just thought I'd see.

I've never used Revolution myself. The active ingredient is selamectin, but I can't find any generic versions in a Web search. The only other brand that comes up is Stronghold but, as the packaging is identical, I think it's simply the European brand name for Revolution.

Advantage is a good option for flea treatment/prevention too. That's what I use. I'm not sure about the price comparison, but it might be worth investigating. However, it doesn't treat worms or mites. If you want one product to cover everything, Revolution seems to be the best option.

I was given Paradyne by my vet at the VCA. I have no idea of the cost comparison. We have always used Frontline. An extreme wet season we had our first mosquitoes ever here. I plan on starting the treatment in April and going till after the first hard freeze. There is no treatment for cats that get heartworms.

This is what I am now using in my cat rescue, since advantage 11 just isn't cutting it anymore.

This information can also be found on the U.C. Davis site.

Revolution for cats and small dogs contains 1/2 the effective ingredient potency that medium and large dog size does.

You can buy the med or lg dog size and use it on cats, at 1/2 the amt that is given in the cat and small dog sizes.

In other words, get large dog size, and using a 1.0 ml syringe, an adult cat needs 0.375 ml. (just under .4 mls)

Each large dog tube has 3 mls in it, so you can get more than 7 cat doses from each tube.

How's that for saving money!

Well, we actually found a year of Stronghold for $90, so that's what we're probably go with. When we first got Chewie, he had worms, so we want to make sure he's on a medication that protects him against them, which is also why we want to get it for Lilly-Belle.

If the cats don't go out, they will not be getting worms unless they get fleas, and they can get tapeworms from fleas, but not any of the other kinds (roundworms etc.)  STRONGHOLD is actually the UK version of Revolution, made by Pfizer.  You could probably do what @catwoman707 suggests in terms of sharing it between your two, but since you are on the Optimum Wellness Plan, and you get it through them, they  might not be willing to pay for the so-called "dog" product, even though it is just a different dose of the same medicine.

My question is if your cat is an indoor cat only, do they still need flea and worm prevention medicine? My cat came from a SPCA shelter where she was dewormed and was given flea medicine, Advantage complete??? (or something like that)

Well, when we first got Chewie, he had worms that he got from the SPCA, so we wanted to make sure that he's protected. As far as Lilly-Belle goes, we didn't know if she ever did go outside or not, but that  we also want to protect her.

Wow, stupid me, it never occurred to me that she would need to be seen by my vet before her next scheduled visit for vaccinations (provided all is well) according to her paperwork the SPCA gave me. Common sense, I will schedule her to be seen. Thanks Maincoonmama12 !!!
