This started 7 months ago. A sore area appeared on inner back thigh of my healthy 2 year old. When I noticed him licking it, it was dime size with a clear drainage. All sorts of bad things went through my head. I got him to the vet and she thought it was an injury. Maybe he caught it on something. He is an indoor cat only. She shaved the area and but him on an antibotic with a spray for it also. Two weeks with no change. We took him back to see the senior partner who thought it could be a lymph node draining. We did laser treatments, a little improvement, but not resolved. Our vet shaved and cleaned and tried a second round of antibotics. It still did not heel. The next step was going to be to surgically remove that spot. I switched him to a grain free diet and now the spot is completely gone and all fur has grown back. This was over the course of 7 months so it did not heel until he had been off antibotic for a while. Could he develop a lesion in just one area from an allergy?

Yes.  I'm glad you found a "cure" for his problems.  I'm sure you're both much happier.

Thanks. When the vet thought it was a injury I racked my brain as to what he could have hurt himself on in my house. Our dog had allergies and had to be on Lamb and Rice food, but she presented with yeast infections in her ears and hair loss. I am just glad he is all healed. I was not wanting to go the surgical route, unless they thought it was malignant, until I tried all options first.
