Hi, i own a ginger cat. And shes about 6 to 7 weeks pregnant. She poops about twice a day and her stool is slightly soft and a lil smelly. I feed her whiskas dry kibble tuna and salmon canned food in equal amounts. She likes the canned salmon more. Could someone plz guide me where im going wrong cuz i took her to the vet and he said that its 'most likely' becuase of her pregnancy. Im not satisfied with his conclusion.

Are you feeding her kitten food? She needs the nutrients, but it is possible the richness is giving her diarrhea. I also wonder if she was ever dewormed?

Yes she has been dewormed. And like i said earlier shes been feeding on whiskas salmon canned food mostly. 1 year plus. Is it possible that she has diarrhea becuz her food portions are too large and she eats it all?

Our pregnant cat has been having diarrhea as well. We took her to the vet and when her stool sample came back clear they determined it was due to stress of pregnancy, a new home (we rescued her) new food, and her long coat (I guess long haired cats can get an upset stomach more easily due to grooming). They gave us a probiotic and it has definitely improved some. Is the dry food new?

All that fish is not good for any cat, especially a pregnant one. Switch her to a grain-free kibble. My cat had stress-induced diarrhea, which stopped once I kept him on dry food and a probiotic. You can get a probiotic from the vet or a good pet store and online.

Agree that you should cut the fish and feed her a kitten food while she's pregnant and nursing.

Try feeding Fancy Feast classic chicken or turkey. Probiotics sprinkled on the food are good too. Hoping the change from fish to poultry will help her system soon.

Yup....... She's definitely happier with a chicken diet. There is already a visible change in her stool. Thanks everyone!

Ginger gave birth to 5 healthy kittens this morning around 3 AM. Now shes is resting alot i guess because of the over exhausting night she went through. How can take better care of my mommy cat and her babies? Open to any advice and tips :)

Thank you Princesspippa :)
Question: my ginger was fully vaccinated before delivery. Is there any need to get her vaccinated again? Cuz i read several articles about the kittens recieving antibodies from their mommy in the first 36 hours of their life only.

The kittens receive the antibodies through mom's colostrum and milk, not through vaccinations. Pregnant and nursing moms are not vaccinated. Kittens are not vaccinated until at least 8 weeks.

It sounds like mom and kittens are doing well! Please post pictures when you can. Be sure the kittens are warm enough when mom is not in the nest - use a heating pad set on low under a blanket, or a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel and placed nearby. Make sure mom has room to fully stretch out to nurse in the nest. Please feed mom as much kitten chow and wet food as she wants. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

You also want to be sure that the nest is in a quiet, dark area so mom will be calm and relaxed. She should have her water, food, and litter box nearby so she doesn't have to go far. She can be spayed when the kittens are 8 weeks old. It's very important that she doesn't go outside or near any intact males until she is. She can get pregnant again within a week of giving birth.

We can also give you some suggestions about placing the kittens in new homes when they're ready. You may want to weigh them daily for the time being so you know that each one is gaining the appropriate amount of weight.

Please post photos when you can! I'm sure they're adorable.
