I'm not sure where to begin with this, but I switched my kitten from clay litter to swheat scoop about 2 weeks ago. I gradually added in the swheat scoop so she could get used to the smell/texture of it. Right now it's just swheat scoop in the litter box, and I noticed yesterday she was, well, EATING her pee! Her box is in our bedroom, I heard her go in there and do her business and come back out. A few minutes later she got quiet, so I looked over and she was halfway in her box licking and eating the litter where she just peed. Naturally I freaked out and tried to get her to stop, but the only way I could was to just scoop it out altogether. Shes had just the swheat scoop in there for a few days now so I'm not sure why she suddenly wants to do this.

Backtracking just a little bit, about a month ago I bought some worlds best litter and as soon as I put it in her littler box she started eating it. The difference now is she had ample time to just eat the litter itself, but is only eating the dirty parts. So I don't know if it's just the smell reaction after she pees that attracts her to it, or if its just the pee? I watched her last night after that but she didn't pee again until this morning, and she did it again! I've tried to research this but only find things on just cats eating litter in general, not dirty litter. I'm not sure what to do, if it IS just the smell after she pees that attracts her to it I really don't want to go back to the tidy cats clay stuff I was using before but it was awful, but she never tried to eat that.

How old is your kitten? I know kittens shouldn't use clumping litter until a certain age (I forget what but I know someone will chime in on that) because of the fact they will sometimes eat it.

She is a little over 4 months old now, I just find it strange because I used tidy cats and she never ate that, only the natural smelling litters?
