I recently purchased an essential oil diffuser and started using it on my office, where my cat often sits with me. I stumbled across an article that said essential oils are bad for cats but all the research I find is about placing the oil right ON the cat. Is it safe to diffuse oil into the air? I add a few drops of oil to water and it diffuses.

I've used essential oils professionally for over 20 years. Used to use them in various ways in my home. In many yummy ways.... I LOVE essential oils!! Have also used them for a variety of medical issues.

Then I became a cat Mom... And, possibly because I have used essential oils for such a long time, longer than some of these companies claiming that their oils are more "PURE" and therefore safe, I am aware of the danger of these, for humans, healing oils.

But for cats they can be deadly.

I never use ANY essential oils around my cats. When I use oils for myself I always make sure my cats are not exposed.
