I wish I had a better reason to have found this great site.  My kitty Chloe, who is approximately 13 (rescue kitty) was diagnosed with feline leukemia virus yesterday.  She had developed severe anemia, last week.  She was completely healthy with no issues until last week.  Her hemoglobin was so low that she had an emergency transfusion yesterday.  She went from being on death's door to eating again and purring, the vet reported this morning.  I pick her up from the vet hospital this afternoon.

We've started a journey together.  I will do everything I can to support her body to deal with this.  I won't let her suffer, but I really think she's not quite ready to make her exit yet.

Your Chloe is so beautiful- wonderful pictures!

I'm sorry to hear she isn't feeling well though; glad the transfusion is helping her feel better.  I don't have any personal experience with FIV, but there are lots of threads here; this website might be useful for you below... It sounds like your vet is knowledgable and supportive and that is a huge plus!

Sending positive vibes for all of you!

Thank you!  Your kitty is beautiful as well!  Thanks so much for the link, I will definitely check it out!  There are a lot of things that can be done to help support a cat with FLV, I'm finding.  I also have a follow up appointment next week with a holistic vet who offers conventional and alternative treatments for animals.  I'm very interested to see what she will recommend.

That's horrible about the feline leukemia. It sounds like the transfusion sure made her feel a lot better though. Chloe is gorgeous. Those eyes are just stunning,

Thank you! I love her eyes too. She is like a new cat this evening. Chloe 2.0, LOL. The transfusion did wonders for her. It's hard to believe that she is the same cat who was knocking at death's door yesterday. Her hemoglobin went up four points and the vet expects it to continue to go up a bit because the predn her hemoglobin went up four points and the vet expects it to continue to go up a bit more. It does my heart good to see her happy and acting like herself tonight.

You're welcome. Yeah I would definitely take that as a good sign. The improvement happening that quickly.. Cats are amazingly resilient.
