This is an old pic, Morty is now all grown up:)
I think it'd be so much fun to start a thread for folks like me that adopt & love 'cast-off' siamese cats.

Apparently they are now

known as "Thai Cats".

A whole argument for another day.

My kitties are all rescues from lower AZ, I wonder if there was a breeder here

way back in the 40's/50's, I've tried researching & have come up w/ziltch.

I am of the school that real Siamese Cats have 'apple' heads &

a kink in their tails. I don't think 'Modern Siamese' count, they have been so altered & aren't as bright or long-lived.

That alien look is so

man-made. Yuck! But ofcourse they are still adorable!

Please share your stories/pictures of your Siamese kitties.

I think the personality of siamese cats is the best part of

being their owner- stripey/calico/blue-point, they all have voices & personalities.

They pretty much own me, BTW. I love my awful siameses even more than my VW,

& that's saying alot.....I reallly really really love my VW Bug, Love my siamese cats

even more. They are awful & trash everything they come into contact with, but they

love me & do that w/as much zest & vigor as they give to destroying everything

else. Yay for Morty, Gertie & Cassie!

My experience with Siamese cats is that not only are they VERY vocal, but insistent that "things go their way". My Suzie is very sweet with me, but with other cats, if she does not take a shine to you, she will bully the heck out of that poor cat.

Luna's a Siamese mix. She's not very vocal but she is gorgeous and oh yes things have to go get way. She is a cuddlebug but only when she wants to be. She's sweet to everyone though, but she hasn't had much exposure to other cats, and she'll nip at me if I'm not doing what she wants. She never bites anyone else! She's my sweetheart. I couldn't have chosen a better kitty. She doesn't look like it, but she's 10 years old. I've got about four months of history on her but I knew when I saw her that she was perfect. She's my emotional support/therapy animal, and she's perfect for it. She'll either cuddle or nip at me and remind me I have work to do. She seems to know when I need her and exactly what to do. Everyone she's met loves her

My Cassie cat is a lot like that. She's sassy & weird, but loves me soooo much- I adopted her from another city over 100 miles away, but I saw

her one picture & knew I had to rescue her. It was a nightmare driving her here to her fuuurever home, but as soon as I opened the cat-carrier door

she came out purring & giving ME loving rubs & pets- best friends ever since:)!!!

Luna HATES her carrier. I go to a college 8 hours away from home, but since I have to have Luna in a carrier, it usually takes ten.

We have had Siamese cats since we married in 1954.  Our last cats, two brothers, were handed in to the Cat Protection Society's shelter aged about 9 months.   The largest, and greediest, we named Kerry, after an Australian media owner.  The other cat, much smaller, had to be called Rupert.

Kerry unhappily died after stealing food contaminated by rat poison.  Rupert then had a definite change in personality and instead of being submissive to Kerry, he eventually  dominated the family.  Here he is in a plant pot in  2010.

Unhappily his kidneys failed in 2015.

We vowed never to have another cat but our daughters arranged for us to have Sukie, my eldest daughter's cat's daughter and we have had Sukie since she was 8 weeks old.  She is almost the opposite to a Siamese.  She has hardly any miaow, just a squeak, did not like being petted (she has improved immensely since she has grown up) but her personality, like our previous Siamese cats, is quite dominant.

She will not allow us to move her, our punishment if we dared to perform such an act of indignity was to be scratched, although nowadays she just threaten us with claws withdrawn.  Here she is informing us that it is time for her to be fed!  Note her large bushy tail.

Sukie can change her shape; here she is in her elastic mode:  Compare her to my Avatar when she was in her compact cat mode.

Our daughter's cat was named Polly so according to the nursery rhyme: "Polly put the kettle on...", we had to call her daughter Sukie as "Sukie took it off again."

Aria's genetics are a mystery, being a former stray, but we're pretty sure she has Siamese in her and isn't just a domestic colorpoint. It's hard to tell with her fluffy coat but when it's slicked down you can see that she has a VERY Siamese-y build and face shape. Either way she hit the genetic lottery and got that gorgeous long coat on top of the lynx points and blue eyes (yes, her eyes are blue, but we've never managed to get a picture where they show up blue).

Here she is at show back in March, doing her sassy butt thing for the judge:

Ignoring her sister (the flailing calico paw in the corner) and trying to will Daddy to feed her from across the room:

Trying to will ME to feed her:

At about 4 months just after we got her (she's 9 months now):

The day we got her at 3-4 months, after settling in:

Schrödinger was a kitten that a lady found in her bushes. He might have been abandoned by his mommy, or something happened to her. He was in the lady's bushes for well over 24 hours in the Texas summer, with no sign of a mother cat. He was crying and hungry, so she fed hin some cows' milk because that was all she had for a babykit like hin, and she brought him to our clinic. He was only about a month or so old. Now he's almost 11 years old and we THINK he's actually a Tonkinese. But we aren't 100% sure, and besides-- the Tonk has the Siamese as one of the parent breeds. And well, he definitely sounds, acts, looks and feels like a Meezer so I think he belongs here.

this is olaf, my 3rd foster failure. he definitely looks like a flame point siamese but he's very shy and very very rarely makes a peep, meow or any noise. he loves my other cats but i'm the only human he will let touch him. he's pretty small but this picture makes him look alot bigger..

here, he's giving moe a bath,

he has gorgeous baby blue eyes but they rarely show up in picture unfortunately,

What beautiful cats!  You are really to be congratulated on Schrodinger!

Schrödinger could well be a Tonkinese but his  eyes are very blue.  Having bred Tonkinese, I have found that there are two types, the Siamese type with loud voices and behaviour and the Burmese type with soft voices and the shy behaviour of the Burmese!   What sort of voice does he have?

On the other hand Olaf looks just like a Siamese but lacks a Siamese voice - so it shows you that you cannot really rely on rules!!

He's talkative. His voice is bold but not raucous or raspy like a Siamese. Yet it's not soft, either. I'd say it's loud and clear, pleasant sounding for a Meezer type. He's also quite bold with his behavior. He's sketchy around new people, but very social once he gets to know you. He will jump onto his pet sitter and certain friends and ride their shoulders. So behavior is definitely social and outgoing in familiar situations and with familiar people.

Having worked in a feline practice, we saw many Tonks, both the Burmese type and the Siamese type. The 'classic' Tonks, as you know, have aqua eyes, and though they do look blue most of the time, Schrodie's eyes do pick up a tinge of aqua cast in certain light or at certain angles. But usually, they're clearly blue.

He's my little buddy... I love all my cats, of course, but he's my sweetheart.
