Hi all. My 10 year old boy was diagnosed with IBD and my vet put him on 10 milligrams of Prednisol a day. He was on it for 3 weeks and it worked wonders (no more diarrhea). So then I was supposed to gradually wean him off by reducing to 5 milligrams a day for a week and then 5 milligram every other day the next week. Well after the first 2 days, he began violently projectile vomiting. So the vet said to put him back on the high dose again. Fast forward 3 months and we've tried to wean him off again by giving him 7 1/2 a day ( whole pill in the am and 1/2 at night) and he started throwing up again and has zero energy and is acting sickly. My vet keeps telling me there is no withdrawal from this drug, but I keep reading there is, anyone have any advice or has similar issues? I'm so confused what to do as my vet is a great guy, but seems to be guessing about this. Thanks for any help. Cosmo's mom

It isn't a withdrawal like we think of with a narcotic.  The inflammation with it's symptoms can return when the steroid is reduced.  Your kitty may need to be at this dose to control inflammation.
