I am ccubb.

I found this site when I Google searched "wet cat food comparison" and have been reading for over an hour now...I figured I might as well create a sn and get in on the conversations.

I have a 16yo blk/whi female (Dixie) and a 6.5yo blk female (Dakota). I am trying to move to feeding more wet than dry food. Up til now, I have only free-fed dry food. Dakota is overweight and needs to lose probably at least 5-7 lbs. I have noticed that Dixie is looking a little slimmer (I'm guessing due to age). I have taken up the dry food and give them both some 2x a day when I feed them canned Authority (Dixie gets Authority for Seniors). I have to separate them and shut Dixie in the bedroom to eat or else Dakota will inhale her wet food and then chase Dixie away from her bowl and eat that too.

I am looking forward to spending some time here and becoming more familiar with the site.

Let me be the first to welcome you to this great site.  You will probably spend lots more hours reading and posting here.

Your cats are beautiful.

In case you haven't come across them yet, here are a couple threads on weight loss for kitties:

Welcome to TCS and thanks for sharing your story.  Love your kitties--I have an all black one, too, and two black and white tuxedo boys.  Good luck with the new diet for them.

Welcome to you, Dakota and Dixie! [emoji]127802[/emoji] What beautiful cats they are. I'm on my phone so can't link right now but there is a thread on the site where people post pictures of their tuxedo cats - your beauties would fit right in! [emoji]128077[/emoji] It should show up on a search.

I don't envy you trying trying to put Dakota on a diet. My Paul needs to lose a couple of pounds as well. Not fun! Is Dakota getting any exercise? This will help with losing weight combined with the dietary changes.

Just a note about Dixie's weight loss - this can be one of the first indications of an underlying health issue in a senior cat.

Welcome again. I hope to see you around the forums!
