I just wanted to clarifiy, are you asking about Purina EN(the vet prescription gastroenteric food)?  Is your kitten having GI distress?

When my kitty Tiger was treated for acute pancreatitis and was hospitalized, canned Purina EN was the only food she could keep down.  Being that she was also diabetic, it wasn't the ideal food but I only needed to give it to her for a week or two.  If you look at the ingredients, it isn't the ideal food as the first ingredients are by products, but  when a kitty isn't eating anything else your options are limited.  I do not have experience with the dry kibble.

Can you be more specific about the problem your kitty is having and what you have been feeding prior? I'm personally not a fan of RX foods, especially in regards to allergies tummy issues. I think a much better option is limited ingredients canned foods, raw, or homemade.

My kitties had worms that were cleared up in a few weeks. They were placed on the vet prescribed wet and dry EN natural for that reason at 8 weeks. The vet wanted them to stay on the food, told me it was a good balanced diet. They are healthy kittens and eat both canned and dry prescription EN natural. Their stools were fine until I tried to wean them off of it because I don't think it is the best choice. One after 2 weeks of just a half 3 oz can of paw licked chicken from Weuvera is not getting loose stools.I believe Weuvera is a good brand but I can't seem to wean these guys off this bland diet. They are healthy and normal but now I am not sure what the issue is if they are now use to this stuff? Any advice.

I would add a probiotic to their diet. Kittens have very very sensitive digestive systems and get loose stool easily. Here's a info about how to dose kittens and what brands are good. I give all my cats/kittens a daily probiotic. Weruva is good, but you might try something that's more pate less sauce like maybe Merrick or Instinct limited ingredients foods. My cats really like Merrick LID chicken.

Thank you. I will look into probiotics. And the 2 other brands. Maybe it is the gravy the chicken is in that is aggravating his stomach. I also noticed a bit stronger odor to his stool so maybe the gravy is too rich. The vet insists that these guys can stay on prescription food their whole lives but I don't want to do that. Will try looking into Merrill. Thanks

Ugh. I hate vet's that push RX foods like that. It's like they have no shame trying to force food that isn't even good quality on you just so they can get their kickback. Yes some cats react to the liquid in weruva/soulistic sometimes. You can drain some of the gravy off which might help but a LID food might help too. They sell them at Petco. Good luck!

Thank you I am researching it now. I did start to drain the gravy and I think the loose stool is a bit better. Thank you!
