My shelter kitty was dehydrated and I saw advice for tuna water on here and asked vet about it, she said go ahead. Do I need to refrigerate any undrunken portions?

I would if you can. Follow whatever directions are on the can of tuna. Make sure it doesn't have any added sodium for your cat's sake. Bacteria grow more easily without the added salt, but refrigeration stalls that. I hope she likes it!

I would only serve up what I think would get drunk in one sitting (usually a few tablespoons in this house ;) ), and keep the rest in the fridge. You can always give a refill if your cat wants it ;)

Just to be clear - tuna water does NOT mean just the liquid from the can. You take a can of tuna in spring water, add a couple of cups of water to the contents and let it sit for a few hours. Remove the tuna and serve the liquid.

Chicken water is a big hit in this house too - just poach some plain chicken and serve up the cooled liquid :yummy:

This article has even more ideas [article="30756"][/article]

I hope your kitty is better soon :vibes:
