I know what your thinking" has a cold" Well this "cold has lasted over 2 years. Took him to the vets .He gave him antibiotic. Did no good. Took him to second Vet he wanted to flush his sinus. Cost about $500. 00. I live on Social Security $500.00 is half my check.  He coughs, has really thick white mucus comes from his nose and snezzies 6 or 7 times in a row. He is 11 years old. He snores loudly and wheezies when he breathes. I don't know what to do. I fell really sorry for him.

Bumping this in hopes someone has some more ideas.

It would really be best to take him to the vet to have this done because they can also culture what emerges, but I can appreciate the financial problem.  You might ask your vet about using  colloidal silver.   Colloidal silver has been very helpful to a lot of our members for treating a wide range of disorders.  I don't know if it's appropriate in your case but it's worth checking out.

I really like the colloidal silver idea; you might also try bovine lactoferrin bc supposedly it helps with feline herpes virus. It's available on Amazon. Is there an SPCA around you that can help with a vet visit?

I know you're on a fixed income, but I would recommend a culture and sensitivity test on the discharge.  That will let you know if you're dealing with some kind of infection or not.  The sensitivity test will tell which medication(s) will best treat it.
