What do people here recommend for probiotics? Leroy's currently on FortiFlora to help with his mushy poop and upset tummy. I've gotten some recommendations on my thread in the Raw forum but I'm confused with all the diferent types out there
Do I need a pet specific one or is a Human one ok? Is a digestive enzyme the same as a probiotic or is it a different product?

From IBD Kitties website: http://www.ibdkitties.net/Probiotics.html

...It can get confusing...Do you want to go with a pet grade or human grade?  I have noticed many on their IBD FB page use Jarrow's S.Boulardii.  another is Florastor. Isn't your kitty is diabetic? Note that some of them have maltodextrin, such as Nextabiotic, so you have to read the labels. I was leaning toward the Pet grade My Healthy Pet, but then I started reading about FOS(Fructooligosaccharides) and wondering if that is going to be okay for my kitties to ingest...
The one I am currently taking is called NOW.  My vet has said that all kities that eat a raw diet would probably benefit from taking probiotics.

Digestive enzymes are not the same as probiotics. Probiotics help replace the healthy bacteria in your gut, whereas, digestive enzymes aid in food absorption by breaking down food into simple, soluble substances that the body can use. This process slows down with age and disease. Deficiency can show in poor coat, allergies, intestinal problems and too large stools. Overcooking food destroys the enzymes that occur naturally in fresh food, and if for some reason your kittie is lacking in natural enzymes, poor digestion occurs. A common digestive enzyme you see in pet stores is one called Solid Gold for example.

p.s. Don't get digestive enzymes mixed up with pancreatic enzymes though, there is a product called Pancreved, or Pancrezyme, those are meant for treating Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency which causes malabsorption.  Digestive enzymes are more likely what your kitty would need for runny poop.

No, Leroy is not diabetic. Just prone to the occasional mystery "not doing well" episodes that the vet can never quite figure out

My previous cat, now GA, was the diabetic one.

LotsofFur, t hanks for the link
I'll read it later. Whichever brand I decided on I'll definitely run it by the vet first. He's probably only familiar with FortiFlora but knows that I'm one of those overprotective helicopter pet parents
who do their own research and reading on various products and care treatments so he'll be ok with me trying any probiotic.

I'm leaning towards either the Natural Factors Double Strength or the Nexabiotic, both of which seem highy recomended her on TCS on threads that I have read through. Are both generally the same or is one better than the other? Both are the type of capsule that can be pulled apart, right?
