My 14 year old ate almost a whole sandwich during the day while I was at work. Multi grain, turkey, cheese, lettuce, mayo. She is now looking like she doesn't feel well - big surprise - and she's drinking a lot of water. She's a small cat so this was a lot of food for her. Her belly looks pretty big; the bread probably expanded. Oh and she has IBS and is on pednisolone.

Has anyone else had this happen? If so, I'm curious as to their experience. She hasn't used the litter box yet and hasn't thrown up.

Oh and she has the nerve to look at her food dish and then give me an accusatory look because her dinner isn't in there.

And her name is Angel --- NOT!

One of my cats always tries to get to our sandwiches.  I think she likes the mayo most of all.  She's never eaten an entire sandwich though.

Hope your little one is AOK.

Daisy LOVES bread and has absconded with one of my sandwiches before.  She's eaten toast and biscuits and even some cornbread.  The most that's happened is bloating and diarrhea.  I hope your girl's okay.

Haha!! What a brat!!

The main thing I'd be worried about is if there was garlic or onion in the mayo or turkey. But it takes a pretty big amount to cause problems if it's just eaten one time (like a whole garlic clove). Symptoms to watch for in the next couple days include "breathlessness, lethargy, diarrhea, vomiting, pale gums, an elevated heart rate, an increased respiratory rate, weakness, exercise intolerance, and collapse."

But diarrhea and vomiting are probably not too worrisome since you already know your cat has IBD and eating weird stuff can cause tummy problems..
