Well after last Winter, this should be a piece of cake, right?
I'm on the South Coast, so this one is headed my way.

I need to find my snow boots. I'm making sure everything is charged. Aaron is going to make sure we have enough gas for the snow blower and the generator tomorrow morning. He probably should move more firewood into the garage also. It's supposed to be heavy, wet snow.
Be safe!

Forecasters are predicting 30" for my area (Washington - Baltimore) so I have stocked up on food for Paul, Chula and me and have made sure I have all meds on hand. I have flashlights and batteries but no way to charge my phone or lap top if the power goes out. That's actually my greatest concern. [emoji]128561[/emoji]
Be safe also.. if worse comes to worse, you can charge your cell or laptop with your car; that is IF you can get to it.

Do you have one of those back up batteries for the cell phone?

Good luck

If you can, let us know how you are doing, but do not waste your precious battery life

I am going to amend my previous posts to say to EVERYONE :

Please be safe! If you are able to, let us know you are ok. Do not waste any battery charges to do that. But we are all thinking of you...

(((((HUGS)))) to all!

It's after 4:00 P.M. here and we have not seen one darn snowflake! Yippieeeee!

The Boys and I are still planning on a quiet weekend curled on the couch watching movies and reading books and playing with stuffed mice and catnip!

We fill the tubs with water and some five gallon buckets with lids. If we lose power we lose the well water right along with it. That gives you flushing water and some for general purpose.

We are just now seeing the snow melt from our monster storm weeks ago. Over two feet. We keep our pantry stocked and extra bottled drinking water at all times and that includes cat food and litter.

Last minute checks include checking the supply of Rx medications and batteries. Supply of extra blankets. We also move at least one of the cars to the end of the driveway so once the county sends some type of eq to move a path through the road we can shovel out easily.

The idea is to get stocked up , get home and stay put.

Underground power lines, what a concept!  We don't get much in the way of storms here, but the running joke is that all it takes is one pine needle being blown onto a power line to knock out power to the entire peninsula.  That's a slight exaggeration
but it doesn't take much in the way of wind or rain to make us lose power here.
Been there, done that, too. We lived in Atlanta for 12 years, and talk about pine needles. The loblolly pines there are so tall I can't estimate how tall, and all the branches are at the very top. In an ice storm, they fall over, taking power lines with. We were without power for 2 1/2 weeks once. We scared up firewood and cooked in the fireplace. I bundled up the baby and put him in a bassinet in the family room with the fireplace. Power companies from five states came to put us back together, and the neighbors all came out to cheer the Alabama power crew when they came down the street.

Plenty of everyday things-diapers,wipes and cat food and litter(I went to BJs to get extra lol).  I always have batteries in house that are rotated(baby toys take so many batteries!).  Tons of snacks in case we lose power.  During sandy we were out 10 days.  Expect if we loose it this time it would be a day or 2 as we moved.

My main thing is to have at least a weeks worth of stuff so I have no pressure to go out until I choose to.  I have a fear of snow driving as black ice is what caused my husbands fatal car accident.  I never enjoyed snow but after that I really would only go in an emergency.

Oh, no.  What a terrible memory for you.  I hope you don't have to think about snow driving.

Thank Goodness, we are not int he path of this storm, we are only on the edges of it.
I have learned, after living in New England my entire life, how to prepare for storms.
I lived thru the Blizzard of "78; the Mega Winter of 2015; A couple of huge blackouts, Hurricanes, power outages, etc.

I have a tote which has flashlights, a couple of camp lanterns, a battery radio, tons of batteries, extra blankets. And I have a small camp stove with a couple of small propane bottles, in case I need it.

Most of this was stuff I had when my dad was alive. I had to make sure he was ok in all kinds of weather.

I was brought up to have a full tank of gas in the car, and tons of food in the house. In addition to ice melt and shovels....last year was the first year, in the ten years I have lived in this building, that we had to shovel out balconies due to the huge amount of snow and the weight of it! They were afraid of collapse!

Now that I have Artie, I have a huge supply of food. I order on line so I am prepared.

I have gotten in the habit of ordering a pizza the day before, or the day of a blizzard; just to have on hand, in case the power goes out. It does quite often because I am right near the ocean.

I also charge up my cell phone and laptop. I have a landline, just in case we lose electricity. I will still be able to have use of a phone..

Oh---and I do have wine, brandy, and hot chocolate....
Have you.checked your batteries and stuff like that. I don't want you caught short. Be safe and hugs.

To all of you. I don't knowant. What you're going through. Virginia is already having plenty of snow. I for remember how bad it was in England but nothing like this.
ALL OF YOU KEEP SAFE AND WARM. I'll be thinking of you all.
Hugs all round.

...with the cats...
interesting question!

i'd make sure i had extra wood for the wood stove close at hand, fill gallon jugs with water -- for the cats, charge my kindle, and have my cast iron skillet out on the kitchen counter (to use on the wood stove to fry up some eggs and etc, if we lost power).

i generally am well stocked with necessities, both for the cats and for me.

my area is not forecast to get any of this storm.

Just had lake effect in Chicago today, maybe an inch of accumulation in my area. I really feel for all the folks in the path of this storm!

Well, typically, every year, I stock up on the non-perishable and non-food stuff. That starts around October/November, depending on when "winter" begins. I'll stock up on kitty litter, canned food, salt, etc. 'Cause I don't wanna deal with all that stuff at the last minute. I generally have a small body's worth of litter in my car the entire winter as well for traction. Toilet paper and the like I get subscribed through Amazon, so don't have to worry about that.

When I find out that we're gonna get a big storm (whether it be a thunderstorm, or blizzard, or anything else), I make a trip to the grocery store. Sometimes it's the day before, or the day of. I always try not to do the day of though. I buy any perishables at this time, any more non-perishables I may need. I buy any OTC meds we may be low on. And yeah, booze or beer (usually beer, especially for thunderstorms)

I will sometimes go buy some more litter at this point (because really, you can never have TOO much litter). I try to stock up on food so don't usually need to get more. I have enough to last a couple months right now.

The day of, every electronic device in the house is charging. As long as possible. We do any cooking we may want to do, generally stuff that can be easily re-heated or doesn't need heat. We have an electric stove so that requires the power to be on. We get water delivered so that's generally not an issue. There are exceptions sometimes however, in those cases I'll pick up water while shopping.

Oh, and Rx meds of course. Mine, mom's and now Sara's.

No snow here...just rain and wind.  HOWEVER...IF we were gong to get snow, I'd be in fairly good shape.  I do my grocery shopping for the month on the 21st of each month, based on when my check comes in, and when my ride is available.  The check comes in between the 15th and 21st, and the ride is always free on the 21st, so there you go.  Heat and water would be my only problems.  If I lived in an area where blizzards were a real possibility, I'd have 2 5-gallon jugs on hand, as well as a camp stove..  I can actually fairly effectively heat my kitchen with candles, so Hekitty and I could camp in there for the duration.
